Just read in the sunday paper about the scandal of 1 million British pensioners left to suffer alone. Apparently more than a million are living lonely and isolated lives regulary spending long periods of time without talking to anyone. Up to 300,000 old people have only got contact with the milkman or postman and the goverment is thinking about cutting down costs by scrapping help with free meals, washing, dressing cleaning and shopping. Withdrawal of home help assistance will only increase their isolation. In the same paper there's an article saying Muslim inmates at a jail in Leeds are suing the Home Office for 2 million because they were offered (from a menu selection of four) the choice of ham sandwiches. You couldnt make it up!
