Okay people. Some think there is PTSD some think there is not. Simple as. Personally I think there is PTSD and I have worked with patients diagnosed with it. For five years I worked with people who had been abused and many had PTSD, usually manifesting itself in self injury. Some people have better coping mechanisms than others and for many it is not just a case of "Get on with it!" Many cannot without help. PTSD is a recogised illness under DSM5R (Doctors criteria for diagnosis. I agree some people use it as an excuse at times. There has been a massive increase in emergency services gaining compensation for so called PTSD which I am sceptical about (I think they get paid for the stressful job they do and isnt that enough? Unless there are massively extreme circumstances!)
