Hello tinkerbell, thanks for the advice. I did once contact the social services and they were sympathetic and sent a home-help around to make the bed and give my mother her breakfast., but after two weeks this lady went on her holidays and her replacement never showed up. So my mother (without my knowledge) rang the social and told them she was now "better" and didnt need anyone anymore! I only found out when I returned to England a month later. As you say every person is different and as my mother says "the neighbours are always popping in" BTW the neighbours are also all over 75. Hugs to you to tinkerbell, take care Paul
