Sometimes I think we just have to accept that we are not all the same. As much as most of us would do the right thing whether it is the way we look after our children, family, animals etc. - not everyone has the same caring, compassionate nature.

As the saying goes "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink". Hope we never go down the track of USA where many old people suffering from dementia are literally just dumped at the hospital doors, no ID nothing.

Personally if I got to that age and one of my kids didn't give a stuff about me, I wouldn't want them anywhere near me. I think I would rather be with strangers my age and have a good yarn about 'the good old days when I was a young lass in Wigan'
