I had clogs when I was little but mostly I had shoes made by Malley's the shoemaker in Wallgate. They were a touch cheaper than the factory ones and much better quality cos they were made to fit your own feet exactly. I think he used Kidd for tiny feet and the leather got tougher as you grew. I loved the smell of the leather and sitting on the counter. When the shop closed I used to stand outside the shop and peep thru the cracks between the boards on the window - I could still see the counter. I could still smell the leather too. I cried when they pulled the shop down. Ah sad memories!
