You say you lob bog rolls upstairs as your modesty dictates that bog rolls should not be left on the lower stairs. (one never knows who may drop in)...

I am concerned there is a flaw in your logic.

Please consider the following possible sequence of events:

You finally succeed in lobbing a bog roll to the top of your stairs/edge of your landing and, with relief, go about your business downstairs .....

A little later, someone calls, unexpectedly, at your residence.

You proceed to have a wonderful time with your surprise company - chattering, laughtering and innuendo-ing convivially together, while also downing copious amounts of beverages.

Naturally, a call of nature arises for your guest and they ask their entertaining host where the bathroom is.

You have totally forgotten the half unrolled bog roll strewn over the landing (after the umpteenth throw it could not help but unravel) and horror only strikes after you have directed your guest to your bog's whereabouts and they are cheerfully bounding upstairs.....
