How many people waste loads of time trying to lob toilet rolls up the stairs?

I have done it many times. After coming down from the bathroom and remembering that a new roll is, or soon will be, required, I have retrieved one from the kitchen and attempted to lob it onto the top of the stairs.

This is borne out of not being bothered to make a journey upstairs just to drop off the roll, combined with modesty dictating that bog rolls should not be left on the lower stairs. (one never knows who may drop in)

Anyroad, by the seventh or eighth attempt I am often ready to give up and carry the thing aloft anyway. I know how Barnes Wallace must have felt with his bouncing bomb experiments.

Stubbornness prevails and hours are wasted over a lifetime.

Any solutions out there?

Bungalows and those doll-type covers for spare rolls will not be accepted.
