The registered person does not need to be in the mobility car for every journey. However, the vehicle must be used by, or for the benefit of, the disabled person. Other drivers in the same household can use the vehicle for activities such as shopping, visiting family, or other routine tasks, as long as the disabled customer benefits. It’s essential to note that only drivers listed on the Certificate of Motor Insurance are covered to drive the Scheme vehicle. So, while the registered person doesn’t have to be present for every trip, the vehicle should primarily serve their needs.
