I don't normally join in threads about things I know nowt about, but having read of all these different dilemmas, it seems to me that they've got you all roads. If you claim this, you can't claim that etc. I'll be the first to admit that matters such as these go straight over my head so I need things like this to be told to me in words of one syllable.

The disabled and elderly should be treated with more respect, most especially if they've worked all their lives. It's almost like abandonment and they're saying "thanks very much, but you're no use to us anymore, so bog off and fend for yourselves."

It's objectionable, and people like Peter and Yvonne must feel helpless and frustrated by the lack of caring. Many pensioners are on the breadline and have to choose whether to pay for leccy, or a meal, and that is wrong in the 21st century when there are billionaires with more money than they could ever spend.

I've just got my letter to tell me I'll be getting an extra £21 a week on my State Pension, which is all very nice, but I'll bet a pound to a penny (literally) that I'll have to pay more tax on my little part-time job as I was put on emergency tax code K18 the last time we got a pension rise and I've been paying £27.40 a week in tax. They want us to be independent, but won't let us have the means to do so. My annual income is just short of £18,000 with the new allowance, so nobody can say I'm wealthy. I manage, because I have to, and right now I'm still fit enough to work, but I've now been diagnosed with a condition which could render me unfit and end my working life. I feel sorry for the younger people who won't get any pension at all by the time they reach retirement age, so will have to take out their own pension plans. It's not right, and it's not fair, but there's nothing we can do about it.
