On midsummers day, in June, in Wigan, the Sun is at it's highest at mid-day. 12 hours later, it's at it's highest at Wigan's antipodal point, which is approximately 300 miles off the south - east coast of New Zealand, in the Southern Ocean, not far off Antarctica, on t'other side o't'World from Winter Hill !

That, Tommy 2 Stroke, explains why you can't see the Sun, from Wigan, shining behind Winter Hill during the night!

Winter Hill is North North East of Wigan and the Sun sets in the West so, in your favour, the Sun does actually set 'left' of Winter Hill mast, but it's a bloody long way to the west!
