I like to cook Italian, so get through a lot of basil.

Not a problem at this time of year, as have it growing both in garden, and indoors in a pot.

However for most of the year, have to buy in basil. Usually get one of the pots of growing basil from the supermarket. They are very pot-bound, but even if I re-pot, still only get one shot. ie Does not survive to furnish a further cooking session (Unless within a couple of days)

Supermarket has it throughout the year, it could be imported, but I suspect is grown in UK in a controlled environment.

Anyway, found some cheap grow lights on fleabay, so thowt I might take a cutting, and see if I can grow basil in UK out of season.

If it works in cannabis farms, then presumably I can have culinary herbs out of season.

Be pleased to hear if any of you have experience growing out of season crops.
