The Brighter Borough initiative provides a fund for councillors to propose and support schemes that improve the environment and benefit the community within their Wards. Winstanley Warriors have applied and successfully received a total of £5,410.95 via the Brighter Borough scheme.
In addition, when planning permission is granted for new housing, a legal agreement is made (a section 106 agreement) for a financial contribution to be paid by the applicant to support the provision of new or improved play space and open space. Play space contributions can be spent on both formal and informal play as well as sport provision
Winstanley Warriors received £50,429.50 of Section 106 funds, to allow them to access match funding for significant pitch improvements. This funding enabled the club to access £65,000 from Sports England.

Why does only one team benefit?
