Cherry, this is what it says in Wigan library, its a bit old though: Magistrates must command the confidence of the public, have personal integrity and have the respect and trust of others. This means that, for example, it is unlikely that you will be appointed if you have been in trouble with the Police, are untrustworthy or an undischarged bankrupt. Serious motoring offences or persistent offending will also lead to being turned down, but it dosent say what would happen should a sitting magistrate be convicted of breaking the lawbe a disqualification.
