Rose.....When I lived on Norley till 1971, did Freddy Stevens not live with the rest of his family in Helvellyn Road....a few houses down from the top near the bus terminus. There were a few brothers of them and was Freddy a Ted. I can remember him dancing.....jiving..... in the West Ward when they had club nights on a Thursday night.....brilliant dancer !! Sometimes fights used to break out.....my mother did her nut cos I went there but they were good nights then. Or am I on the wrong Freddy but this one had the silver streak that you mention. He used to sit with me on the last bus coming home sometimes.....he was ok was Freddy. Now whether they moved behind the shops, I don't know but I'm pretty sure he lived at one time in Helvellyn Road.
