you cant blame folk for trying to protect themselves from the dole,arthur scargill apart,miners where generally not troublesome.
trying to protect you and your family against a government that decided coal was old hat and not needed in its then present form is a bitter pill to swallow.
being unemployed for the over forties that knew nothing else but coal,in those days must have been very worrying.
all my friends who where miners about 4 or 5 of em never displayed any self importance.
