Thanks Lizzie. Hello everyone. I have looked through what you have done while I have been away. Well done.
Maureen, I was interested to look at the photos of St Josephs on Album. Did you take them? I tried to send you a PM but there was nothing on my screen to send one.
Best wishes everyone. Hope you had a good weekend.

Posted by: momac (8307)  Report abuse
Marie, yes Cliff took those photos and a couple more..re- your pm..that
sounds like my problem the other week, you can email me if you want.
I never knew that you lived facing the church..were you next door to
Westheads shop.

A very good Monday to all.
A pleasant cloudy bright day here, 16C.
A busy morning in the garden tidying up.

Just had a peep at your pictures of St Josephs Mo, very sad to see what must have been a lovely building in such a state.

lack-lake-applejack-alack-apple-appal-palace-jackal.
I finally got a 9 letter one.

Lots more to get for Mo.
Hope Vince can join in.

Lizzie, well, it's the start of a new week.
Thanks for our new thread, I'm sure it'll be much better for tablet users.
On my laptop I can just hit the "End" key on my keyboard to take me to the last post.
Thanks for our Monday wordage

Hello all..Ray, I've just been watching a video of what it's like now..not very
pleasant,,it's just a shell of what it used to be..a friend of mine went to the
very last mass...but the video seems to have been kept in the damp or
some similar place..a bit blurred..growing up my whole life seemed to
revolve around that church..not that I was a goody goody far from it.

Off we go..leak,cake,pale,peal,plea,parka,papa,papal,appeal,kale.

I'm not sure if Vince will be on today.

Thank you for our new thread our Lizzie, your weather certainly isn't it's
usual lately is it..I hope you get some more sun soon.xx

Just popping on again, I was a little pushed for time on my earlier post.

As you say Mo, it’s a bit depressing to see a building that’s part of your childhood in such a state.
The only thing I can say to make things better is that you have the memories of the place locked away in your mind.
How is it that I CAN believe you weren’t a goody goody LOL

I was a regular churchgoer growing up in Ince (not so now) and went to Christ Church on Ince Green Lane, thankfully it’s still there and holding services.
I will have a dreadful rude awakening at the pearly Gates!!!!!!!!

Well done with the words Mo and Marie

EDIT - It’s Hindley History Society tonight, so looking forward to an evening out.

A very good day to all.
A cloudy but warm day here in Blighty, 19C going to Sainsies in Leyth this morning.
We have some warmer sunny weather on the way which should please Our Mo.
I need some decent weather to get my gardens tidy as we are away next week.
We will thankfully have wi-fi, so I will be able to keep in touch.

impromptu-import-trump-trio-tour-riot-mort-prom.

Well done Marie.
Come on Our Mo.
I expect we won't see Vince for a few days.
We'll be thinking of you Vince.

Lizzie, St Williams was my Dad’s church before he “turned” to C of E for my Mum when they got married.
I knew it was still going, but thanks to Marie we know it has no Priest.
St Pats of course is that lovely big red brick church on Hardybutts just off Darlington St. which is still going according to th’interweb.
I could quite easily have been brought up in the Catholic faith.
Religion seemed much more important when I was growing up, not so today.
Thanks for the words

A very good day to everybody.
A cloudy bright warm day here in Blighty, 21C.
A very busy morning in the garden.
I tend to do too much and I think I've burned myself out.
I'm pretty much done now for the hols.
I'll have an easy afternoon.
I looks like we're all a bunch of mongrels Mo LOL

There's a 48 word count today, so loads more for Mo and Marie.
I bet Marie's on a "jolly"

Lizzie, Susan was a Methodist, so we got married in a Methodist church.
I confess I was much more comfortable in the non conformist religion, a lot less stuffy.
Thanks for our midweek wordage

Hello all..just got home, spent the afternoon sat on Daves swing in his

Hello everyone. Well done Ray and Maureen. Years ago my cousin married a Protestant and none of the family every spoke to him again. Hope Vince is ok.

Posted by: momac (8307)  Report abuse
Isn't it silly Marie..letting religion part families...when I was going up the street to meet Cliff..Fr Cronin met me and asked me who I meeting..I told him,my boyfriend..his first words were Is he Catholic I told him no..he wouldn't let me past and said you're going nowhere..my first reaction was to
tell him I'm going back to tell my Dad..he then stepped aside..he knew that my Dad wouldn't let anybody talk to me like that..he was a buggar to say the
least...there's nothing like that over religion thank goodness.

Ray,I cant believe I missed last nights quiz..my favourite one on WR..we
were both clearing a lot of privets that Cliff had clipped for couple of hours.
he was up the ladder,I'm holding it while he's teetering on the top of it..I'm totally sick of privets..but we went to Daves yesterday instead of the usual
Tuesday due to Cliffs eye review at diabetic place..the top and tail of it is..
I totally forgot it was Wednesday..wouldn't care I had a peep on Drivel..it
was Cliff that said "guess what" you've missed the quiz..but this was at about 9-30 so am kicking myself.

We arrived safely around 4-30 this arvo after a really pleasant trouble free journey.

Hello, just popping on to see how you all are.
The internet here has been awful today, hence the late post.
Weather here started cloudy and cooler than of late 18C, but brightened up this arvo to 21C, so very nice indeed.
We don’t seem to have had the really hot weather you’ve had.
We’ve had a nice walk along Loch Ryan this arvo.

Mo, I hope you find your book, well it’s better than losing your marbles!!!!!! LOL
Marie, hope you had a good day out.
Vince, so pleased you’re slowly improving, just take things easy.

Lizzie, that’s the one thing I wouldn’t like about Oz, all the weird and wonderful but deadly creatures you seem to have,
I suspect you don’t get them in the ‘burbs though.
Thanks for looking after the notreets in my absence LOL
Take care

Hello everyone..it's going a bit heavy again, rain this a.m good for gardens..
Youngest Son coming tomorrow from Gateshead..can't wait..with his fiancé
and little dog..he does some ''extra' TV when he gets chance, the other day
he was a policeman in the series Vera..which we never miss it was filmed
in Hexham,he sent a couple of photos but can't wait to hear all about it.

hello all. Been out since early. You two have done very well. We have got cards, Vince, where we can be treated as NHS patients in Spain.
Hope Ray is enjoying his hols.
I didn't know your son was an actor, Maureen.

and then scroll to find healthcare in spain click on

you will see a short video on heathcare, introduced by the british embassy in madrid,it will tell you everything you need to know, hope it helps.

Posted by: momac (8307)  Report abuse
Marie,he isn't an actor..people just join an organization which says you can
be called upon to play parts as extras..the majority of them are people that
don't have employment..they asked Lee if he could come back Wednesday
and today, but of course he's working ,it's only on his days off that he can be
available.so..next time you see people walking down the street or a
policeman,or any none speaking parts, they're extras...so are you applying tomorrow.

A lovely walk along the sands of Luce Bay this arvo, just perfect.

Hope you get to spend some quality time with your lad Mo.
How fascinating that he’s an “extra”, must be great getting to see the behind the scenes of TV making.
Seems like you’re being well looked after Vince, take care.

Hello everyone.
Just a quick pop on to see how you all are.
Lots of good wordage for a 32 word count.

We always enjoy Friday here (even though we’ve been packing up for our return tomorrow) because we have lunch out at Campbell’s Fish Restaurant in Portpatrick.
It’s a fantastic place to eat, very informal and friendly.
They actually have their own fishing boat, so most of what you eat is as fresh as it could be.
I had King Scallops for starter and Scampi and Prawn Provencal.
Susan had Minestrone soup and Grilled Bream.
Our annual treat, just superb.

I’m in the middle of the quiz, but thankfully this week I can’t mark because t’tinternet’s so slow it is impossible to react to people’s posts.
Back to normal next week hopefully.
Take care all

EDIT - forgot to say, we are travelling home tomorrow, so I will be off line most of the day.

A big Hello to all.
Hope you are all well.
We arrived home about 2 hours ago after a very pleasant journey.
A salmon salad tea was had, and now I’m going for a bath and then settle down to some telly and a few scoops later.
I’m thoroughly depressed now, (it makes you wonder why we go away LOL ) but feeling better for the change of routine.

Mo and Marie, if you’re wondering what happened to last night’s quiz, Admin transfers then to Pastimes, then click on Hobbies, then click on thread WR Friday Night Pub Quiz 23-6-17.
All the quizzes from the date 23/6/17 are stored on that thread, and successive quizzes will be stored there.
Quizzes before date that, I suspect have been archived or deleted.

Well done with today’s words, it wasn’t a high word count
Have a great weekend

You'll have to have your Magnum sat inside Mo

Can't wait to get the back flagged, as Mo say it will be a lot less bother.
We had a promise of the flaggers coming in a weeks time, but we are away again soon, and it would only have needed a slight delay and it would have clashed with our hols.

Glad you enjoyed the quiz Marie, it went very well.
Corky came on in the early hours of this morning, full of slutch LOL , and did a very good quiz post.

I think today's weather will suit you Mo .
You did a very good explanation to Marie re private messaging

posing-gene-snig.
Not done very well today.

Well done to Marie.
I'm sure Mo and Vince will get more.
Have a great weekend

Lizzie, I think what we forget on our teensie tiny island is that Australia is a VAST place, and I suppose long journeys are the norm.
Thanks for our week of wordage, you look after us notreets LOL

Hello all, well the glorious sun is back..just been sat on garden swing doing
crosswords, then every so often come in and cool off..

Ray,.I do enjoy the quizzes in particular the cryptic one..it's a pity Vince
doesn't do that one..he does the Express crossword I think like I do..and its
based a lot on cryptic clues..he'll be along shortly..hope he's not basking in
the sun though without any shade.

sing,song,snog,snag,sponge,singe,siege,pong,ping,pasting,pang,genie,

Thanks our Lizzie..you're trip sounds very exciting..I could cope with that.
I hope you and everybody else have a great weekend.xx

Mo, thanks for putting Marie right re archiving my quizzes on Pastimes/Hobbies.

Mo, it seems we both have a passion for cryptic crosswords.
My favourite is the Daily Telegraph.
I buy the Saturday Telegraph sometimes.
I also have a few paperback Daily Telegraph crossword collections.
While I was on holiday I treated myself to a “Lovatts Crossword Puzzles” magazine.
It comes out every 2 months and is packed with crosswords and word puzzles.

Posted by: momac (8307)  Report abuse
Ray..isn't it surprising..when you get the answer to a crossword or cryptic
clue..it does me good and obviously you enjoy them all just the same...and
like we've all said they do keep the brain cells working well..and that can't
be bad.

Posted by: raymyjamie (4894) Report abuse
Mo, I love the start of a crossword when I have all the solutions to do, and then I love putting the last solution in to complete it.
We are Kindred Spirits

Posted by: momac (8307)  Report abuse
Also Ray..I'm always up early 6-30 onwards,I get my porridge ready..with
honey, flax and either strawberries or grapes..feed the cat, settle down with
my I-pad and porridge and do our Lizzies quiz while I'm eating..it really
starts my day off..and the of course during the day when I have time it's the
Express..I've never tried the telegraph..perhaps one day eh!!.

Mo, your breakfast is how Susan starts the day, porridge with various nut and seeds and fresh fruit.

For all our common ground, this is where you and I fundamentally differ.
Since retirement I have become a bit of a night owl.
So I stay awake late, usually between 12-15 and 12-30.
Then, I get up late, usually about 8-45 am to be washed dressed and downstairs for 9-00 am.
I don’t feel guilty about it cos I got up for work before 6 o’clock every working day for decades.
The other difference is, I’m an “afternoon person”.
First thing in a morning I don’t function too brightly, and it takes a huge mug of coffee, a good breakfast and more than an hour before I can face the world with a purpose.
Susan is the opposite, she’s a “morning person”, and gets most of her chores done early in the morning, she’s too bl**dy chirpy for me LOL
She knows to leave me alone and keep conversation to a minimum.
It’s knowing each others faults and foibles that allows you to live side by side and get along.
Come mid morning I’m a fully functioning huming and can begin the day.

Posted by: momac (8307)  Report abuse
Ray,my last job I had to get up at 5-15 and I can't seem to get back from it..
mind you I'm not bothered about talking in the early morning..just can't be
bothered..Cliffs the chatty one.

Posted by: raymyjamie (4894) Report abuse
I can understand how your body clock has not changed Mo.
I had my heart attack 6 months before I retired and I was totally run down and permanently tired with long hours and driving into Yorkshire every day.
The order of the day was rest, and this allowed me to get out of my “get up early and get to work” routine, which then continued into retirement.
If I wake up and see the alarm clock showing 6 am, I turn over and get another two and a half hours of “zeds” in LOL
God I couldn’t go back to working and an early routine again

Posted by: momac (8307)  Report abuse
And if I had a heart attack Ray,I'd make sure I got out of bed later..Id
literally force myself to stay in bed..I lost my lovely dad at the age of 64 to a
heart attack because he thought he was infallible because he was a big
bonny fellow and wouldn't listen to my advice..but you can't change
peoples nature can you...I've had five E.C.Gs Ray because of palpitations
but they haven't found the reason why so I just take good care of myself..
because as you know ..only you can do that.

Posted by: raymyjamie (4894) Report abuse
That must have been a shock Mo, losing your Dad at 64, which was the age I had my heart attack.
As you say we can all do things to improve our health and hopefully prolong our lives
I think your lifestyle of choice of being vegetarian will be a big factor in your long term health.
I think your start to the day of porridge and fruit is fantastic.

Top of the morning to you Mo, blimey, you ARE up early!!!!!!
Well it was 12-30 ish when I shut my peepers and I slept like a lickle babby.
I’ve just had baked beans on wholemeal toast, a high fibre low fat start to the day.
I am not 100% fully awake yet LOL , but ready to face the day, which, because it’s Sunday, I’m doing nowt but sit in my favourite armchair in the dining room on me lappy (which is still running on 3 cylinders only!!!! ) and watch the world go by.
We do have a lovely aspect at the front of our house, it’s a little woods officially called Cunningham Clough, but known locally as “The Bonk”, which I suspect is a corruption of “bank”.
Anyroad, here I shall sit till lunchtime, we’ll have a light lunch and then a local walk this arvo.
Simple pleasures.
I hope you have a good day Mo, as of course I hope Marie, Vince and Our Lizzie in OZ do too

Maureen, I tried to send you a private message to momac and it said momac doesn't exist. I have done what you said on WR to get the quiz but all I can get is the one for 23.6.17. Sorry for being a pain and I apologise to Lizzie for invading her thread.

I'll have a look at the other problem and let you know what I find.

Mo. first of all many apologies.
You posted yesterday about your Mam and Dad's photos on WW Album.
I have seen these before and I think commented about your Dad being an imposing figure.
Of all the coincidences to happen. I was talking to a lady in our Thursday Cardiac Class last week who is in the class because she developed a heart condition caused by having Rheumatic Fever when she was very little.
Sorry for not replying yesterday but as you know I'm having trouble with my laptop, specifically when using Mozilla Firefox as my web browser.
I uninstalled and reinstalled FF yesterday to no avail, so I stayed off line all day, unusual for me.
I am posting this from our big desktop PC, which is unaffected.

Marie, Admin on WR is transferring the Fri night quiz to the thread currently called "WR Friday Night Pub Quiz 23-6-17". on Pastimes/Hobbies.
The previous quizzes are all stored together in one big post.
If you go on to page 8 you will see all the posts from the quiz on Fri 30-6-17 as they were posted.
When this week's quiz is finished, it will be added to the thread, and Admin usually updates the thread title to the latest date.
Hope this helps.

A very good Saturday to all.
A lovely sunny warm day here in Blighty, 21C forecast.
A lazy morning on me lappy, then popped in to Wigan to "Spitting Feathers" for a Merlot wine kit.
A walk round Rivvy this arvo, we are so lucky to have the West Pennines on our doorstep.

Mo, I've been thinking of you this last 2 days, hope you are not too poorly.
According to the info I've seen it can be painful breathing.
Please get lots of rest and get better.

Well done Marie
Glad you enjoyed last night's quiz.

So glad that you are pain free now Mo.
Hopefully the antibiotics will do their magic.
Sorry that you’re stuck inside too, you must be well brassed off.

Just to annoy you (LOL ) we had a lovely walk round Upper Rivington Reservoir, the weather was perfect, 21C with sun and just a few clouds and a welcome breeze.

It’ll be your turn next week, just you see.
Keep resting and have a lovely weekend.

Hope everybody is well.
A damp cloudy day here in Blighty, 17C in Leyth this morning.

We had a really nice evening at Hindley Station last night.
The work that "Friends of Hindley Station" have done is very impressive.
It was an overgrown uncared for space thanks to British Rail's neglect.
It is now a well tended colourful and lovely space to see.
Travellers will think that Northern Rail is making a good job of looking after the station, but it is only due to the hard work of the volunteers that it is so, the train franchise contributes nothing, indeed they impose limits to the licensed areas which they can work, the unlicensed areas are a mess.

It's called The Water House on the Houghton Hall Estate quite near to Sandringham.

A big Hello to all.
Hope you are all well.
The weather has been mixed here, an overcast morning with a little light rain, this arvo it has brightened up with sun/cloud, 20C.
Not been around much to post today.
We did a “big shop” at Sainsies in Kings Lynn this morning, lovely big modern store, but the journey there and back was dreadful due to heavy traffic.
I am now well stocked up with Merlot, Kronenberg lager, dry roasted nuts and Market Deli Anglesey Sea Salt Crisps LOL

Corky and Weatherwax came on very late in the early hours and Gassey this morning, so they’ve all been marked now.

A very big hello to all.
Hope everybody is well.

A lovely sunny cloudy day here, 29C was forecast., but thankfully it only reached 26C on my car thermometer, we’ve had a nice strong wind to cool things down.
We had a dreadful storm in the night around 4 am, according to Susan, thankfully I slept through it LOL
I thought I’d pop on and catch up, we’ve been out all day.
We spent the afternoon at the Queen’s Estate at Sandringham, a lovely place to visit.

Mo, you must have seen some things in your time, and I, like you am not good with blood.
Marie, as Mo says, I hope you didn’t venture out in that heat.
Vince, good luck with the finger, I bet it is painful, and what a bummer gogglebox b*ggered!!!!!!!!

Very well done with the words everybody.

Lizzie, I didn’t see Her Maj this arvo LOL
Hope you got your shopping done

A very good day to all.
A mixed day here in deepest Norfolk, periods of very light drizzle followed by sunny spells, 21C and very pleasant.
I hadn’t realised Lancashire was hit so bad by the storms until Admin on WR posted last night.
Hope you didn’t have any problems.
We were going to do a cliff walk at Hunstanton today, but the weather may decree otherwise.

A big hello to all.
Hope you are all well.

Well, what a day, we arrived home at six o’clock this evening.
Eight hours of a nightmare journey from Norfolk.
We had a 90 min. complete closure of the A1M this afternoon after a serious accident, having got over that there were 3 separate “incidents on the M62 and a complete crawl along the M60, all in all a dreadful journey, just as it was last year, are we unlucky or what.

I’ve done something I’ve not done for years, went and got a “chippy tea”.

I’ve just had time to organise my documents for tonight’s quiz and I’ll be posting that a little later.

All that is water under the bridge now, we’re home and had a good weeks holiday.

Well done with the words.
Glad you’re better Our Mo.
Vince, hope you’re on the best side of your recent problems.

Lizzie, sorry to be a winging Pom on your lovely thread LOL
Hope to be back to normal tomorrow.

A mini “big shop” (that’s a contradiction in terms LOL) at Sainsies this morning, so we’re OK for grub till Tuesday.
We’ll (hopefully) get our Saturday walk in this arvo.

Just reading your post of a few days ago Mo, that was a kind thing to do, so glad the bird recovered.
A few years ago I did a similar thing with a sparrow with an injured wing.
I put it in a shoe box with an old cardigan and fed it worms and stuff, after a couple of days it was recovered and flew off., made me feel good.

I'm here Mo

A big belated hello to all.
I forgot to mention yesterday, that I had a Doctors appointment at lunchtime today, and that we were going out shopping straight after.
The Doctors was a straightforward review of my medication, which was fine and I’m having no problems.
The shopping was Susan looking for a wedding outfit for next year, that proved unsuccessful today, so we’re going to Boundary Mill at Colne on Friday.
We’ve only just finished our evening meal, hence the late post.

Mo, you’re definitely not a “me me me” person, just the opposite in fact.
You’re always looking after other folk

Vince, good luck with all your medical procedures, it seems you’re being well looked after by the Spanish NHS.

Lizzie, you should absolutely go for any bargains going, make best use of your dollars, you’ve worked hard for them.
I’m going to need lots of dollars to pay for this upcoming wedding LOL
Thanks a bundle for our words, you’re a Star

Well done with the words Marie and Vince.

Lizzie, It seems you're having some much needed rain, good for the garden.
I never thought before, that you have to mow throughout the year, I suppose it's your warm climate.
At least we get a respite from October till April.
Thanks for starting our week off

Well the weather is mixed bag today.
It was bright earlier, but rain descended on Leyth mid morning.
At the moment it is bright and cloudy, 17C.

I had planned an afternoon in the back garden, getting rid of greenery in readiness for it being flagged in September, but "the best laid plans........", as they say.
I'll probably end up cleaning summat!!!!! LOL

A belated hello to all.
We woke up to the most miserable of days, cool and dark with fine mizzle and only 15C.
Mid morning we made a spur-of-the-moment decision to go to the Trafford Centre.
I didn’t even have time to log on to post I might be late.
Anyroad a pleasant day was had shopping for a wedding coat for the Mother of the Bride LOL.
We didn’t find anything, but it has helped Susan decide on a colour and style. She would like.
We had a little picnic too with M & S butties and crisps sat in the car.

Mo, hope you had a nice afternoon with Dave, I bet you didn’t sit in the garden.
That said, it turned sunny and bright with a respectable 21C on the way home, so you may have sat out.
Vince enjoy your heat, it’s been Autumnal here for days.
Marie, I’ll have a peep at that picture when I’ve had me tea.
I truly can’t add to your excellent word trawl folks, I have tried.

Lizzie, get you with the big words, “wheelbarrow” there’s another LOL
Hope you managed to get some deals.
Thanks as ever

A very big hello to all.
Another mixed day again.
It threatened with rain earlier so I stayed indoors and cleaned.
Now it’s bright sunshine and looking good for an afternoon walk.
Maybe this “better” weather will cheer Our Mo up, I know you get fed up with the rain and cold.
Hope you’re surviving the heat Vince, I can’t imagine temps in the forties.

A big hello to all.
A lovely sunny cloudy bright day here, 18C forecast.
I've not set foot outside this morning, had a lazy time on me lappy.
A walk round Rivvy is on the cards, always enjoyable.

Mo, you're like us, we buy loads of bird feed.
I have to say the small garden birds like blue tits and house sparrows seem to have deserted us this summer and have not been using the tall cylindrical feeders.
We have three buzzards in the woods in front of us and I wondered if they are feeding on the small birds.

Marie, enjoy your gardening.

Vince, I hope you can get some respite from the heat.
