A belated hello to all.
A lovely cloudless sunny day here in Blighty, 24C.
A busy morning doing inside jobs, then I did the lawns each side of lunch, and then we have switched our Sainsies shop to Tuesday afternoon, so only just coming on now.

Hope you had a good day out in Southport Mo, I bet you had a nice lunch.
Mo, I think you and I have just about got over our respective weddings haven’t we?
This time last week we were walking along the prom at Rhyl.

sailor-boral-broil-basil-

Well done with the words Mo and Marie.
I’m sure Vince will make an appearance.

Lizzie, Thank you for your kind comments, our Kit looked lovely.
I bet you had an amazing trip. I look forward to seeing your piccies.
It’s good to be back in the old routine once again, you’re a big Aussie star.

Ray,we had fish chips and peas in The Swan on Lord Street, and they were
lovely.."we were there twice last week. ( Southport that is.) we went to the
Prince of Wales one day,and Diva the second day but I like The Swan best.
We came across a girl last week sat in a doorway.I asked her why was she
there, she said her Mum had thrown her out ,her Mum was an alco..the girl
looked run down,I could tell she wasn't a druggie, just gave her some
money for something to eat..second time we went I made sandwiches for
her but couldn't find her...so gave them to another down and out.it played on my mind for a while.

Mo, we must pay a visit to Southport, I will make a mental note of those eateries.
Funny, but this time last week we were having fish and chips in the pub were our Kit’s wedding was.

I have to say, you have a heart of gold giving that girl some money for food.
You often see sorry looking ‘down and outs’ in Wigan town centre, I tend to think cynically that they are conning the public, but it stands to reason that some of them are genuine cases.
Anyway, well done you.

Ray,there was another one I didn't mention..today we were on our way
back to the car..there was a young woman in a doorway, when I went to give
her some silver..she was shaking uncontrollably ,not a druggie or an alco
Shake, she either had Parkinson's..or M.S..I know the signs of them both..
There but for the grace etc..we are lucky just to have a bed to go to at night. Both Cliff and Dave give money to them as well..we'll end up begging soon lol...it does bother me though,to see the genuine ones.

This arvo, a trip to Dunham Massey in Cheshire, always a nice day out.

Another lovely bright sunny cloudless day here in Blighty, 22C in Horwich this morning.
Well, we didn't get to Dunham Massey yesterday, when we got to Warburton Bridge which takes you over The Manchester Ship Canal, the road was closed due to an accident, so we ended up at Bents Garden Centre at Glazebury and bought a lovely Azalea plant and pot for our new back garden.
We are off to Rivvy this arvo for a nice walk.

What are your plans for today Mo?

Mo, the azalea is a deep pink, I would say cerise.
Susan reckons it’s the same colour as her wedding hat.
Our back garden is a massive empty flagged space now, which we need to fill, we’re going to put loads of pots and containers there, and maybe a wooden trug full of herbs.

Susan is the gardener of the two of us Mo, I just do the donkey work.
The azalea, as you know is an early flowerer, so we may not have colour from it much longer, but there’s always next year, if we’re still here LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bet you’ve got some lovely displays as your plants are established.
As you say, seeing some lovely Summer colour lifts the spirits.

A slightly damp cloudy day here in Blighty, 15C forecast.
A busy morning doing domestics. the house is nice and clean.
I've been ringing round bike shops this lunchtime, I am selling my bike.
It has been ridden for less than 10 minutes and has been in the house over Winter, I just don't feel safe riding it.
It cost over £300, I will be lucky to get half of that.

Mo, our garden was hard work, I have hopefully made things easier for myself this year.

Hello all,it's cloudy but still warm,we're having a lazy day ..yesterday Cliff
went round all the privets that overhang into our back garden which aren't ours, they hang over our fencing so he always has to do it..no one else will, lovely neighbours but no interest in gardening..used the leccy strimmer
and I clear it all up..so not doing as much today.

A cloudy but pleasant day here in Blighty, 20C.
A frustrating morning getting nowt done!!!!!
I was going to do the hedges between us and Terry next door, except my hedge trimmer decided it was not going to work (faulty connection).
Long story short, I've been to B & Q for a new cable and a set of screwdrivers (I've mislaid my set and can't find it).

Mo, we must get a trip to Southport soon, and have fish and chips at The Swan.
How interesting that you have relatives from there.
Susan is a big family history buff, she has got back to the 1600's with one of her lines, a family called Consterdine from Blackley in Manchester.

stir-steer-retire-peter-peer.

Well done Mo and Marie.

Lizzie, I have fond memories of Southport when I was younger.
A lot less brash and 'in-your-face' than Blackpool.
Me and Susan did a bit of 'courting' there also LOL

Very well done with the words

Just to say we had a lovely day out.
The journey down there however was awful, the M6 and M56 were solid with traffic.
We came back on the ordinary roads, so it took us a while, we’ve not been home that long.

The Birthday venue was the hall of a private school, and there was a super buffet laid out, most enjoyable.
It was lovely to see our Kit and new hubby.

Ray,last week we were getting in the car and a young chap asked how to
get to Mesnes Park,he was a scouser..Cliff said rather than make it difficult
for him "get in the car,we'll run you down there"which we did..he was very
grateful and said he'd heard about our Park and Sir France's Powells
statue that he wanted to see it...he also said that he goes to different towns
and walks miles,he just loves walking, mind you it would have complicated
to explain how to get to the park from our house..l wish I loved walking but
I don't,keep dropping hints that if we had a little dog I could walk far but it
falls on deaf ears.

Only a couple left now..dory,doula,dourly,lard,lord,yard

A very good day to everybody.
Another lovely bright sunny day here in Blighty, just clouding over at lunchtime now, 22C.
A busy morning doing domestics, also charging my new hedge trimmer up, I may give a whiz this arvo.

Mo, I do have a hose pipe, but to be honest I NEVER water the lawn, we are not on a water meter, but it takes gallons and gallons.
I have learned that they very quickly recover from a drought situation.
I do water the beds and rockeries, but it's a faff to get the reel out connect it up and unravel it.

flagrancy-yarn-canary-cyan-canal-clay-gala-angry-flay-fray.

Well done Marie.
Considering the high word count I ain't done a lot!!!!!! LOL
Loads more for Mo and Vince.

Lizzie, we find gardening is hard work now and try to minimise some of the tasks.
Thankfully Susan is the 'weeder' and I do all the donkey work LOL
Thanks for our wordage.

A busy morning in the garden
I've done one of the hedges with my new cordless trimmer, very pleased with it indeed, it's lightweight and powerful, but best of all no maulin' about with cables.
I've done myself in this morning, so we may just do a short local walk this arvo, and then rest, as it's Hindley History Society tonight.

We spent the rest of the morning picking some wedding pictures from the photographers gallery.
Thankfully I had a decent nights sleep last night.

Ray,I see you didn't succumb to your little tipple, but you know best..Cliff is
a very poor sleeper,I've told him right or wrongly to get himself a bottle of
something.I have a glass of sweet wine every night and sleep like a baby.
I never have had a problem with high blood pressure or anything related
etc so I will carry on with my tipple..Anyway,I read this a.m that anyone
that doesn't have a drink soon suffer with depression so.....

Funnily enough Ray our Lee's been sending us loads of photos of the
wedding..it was a young chap who works with Lea,our new daughter in law
that took them all,and he's been picking all the best ones to send,so our
Lee has been sending them to us.

Mo, just like you, we’re not venturing out today.
I have the fan on in oscillating mode, and I’m resting and drinking loads of water/diet coke.
We have the horrible burning smell too, which means we have all the windows shut.
I figured it was from the moors fires over Saddleworth, a dreadful state of affairs.
An expert on the lunchtime news said they needed rain to stop the fires, there is nothing in the forecast for the foreseeable future.
By the middle of next week the temperatures are down to 21C, so a bit of respite maybe.
Take care.

'Saddlework', what are you like Mo? LOL

Yes, I figured that 2 bananas seemed a lot for one person.

Sounds just the job to hydrate and add calories in this hot weather.

Ray you got the 9 letter..👍
Well as I am typing this it is 1.2C outside ....clear skies with showers forecast on Friday ....a max of 14C today.....we won't start to warm up until about August ....😳
Our Maureen...I will never get used to the excessive heat here ....the new air con was a blessing ...or otherwise we would have to move to a house that had one....our old house will be flattened when we go ..on a quarter acre block they can get 4 small houses ....like they have done across the road....it is the way things are...😏

Your house must be a big house too..oh what I'd give for a bigger house..
for a kick off I'd have more room to start wine making again,it isn't the
drinking of the stuff (I do like wine though) it's the enjoyment I got out of it.

The hot weather continues with no sign of rain in the future forecast.

A busy morning unpacking our new bedroom furniture.
What a mess the house is in!!!!!!!!, there's cardboard and polystyrene everywhere.
We'll have to make a few trips to the tip at Over Hulton this arvo.

Mo, I was thinking of your comments re brewing wine.
I can't handle big containers any more, so I make my wine in two 10 litre brewing buckets, they take up very little room.
I buy 'Spitting Feathers' own brand wine kits.
I split the grape concentrate between the two containers, add water and yeast and leave for about two weeks.
I rack off, add finings, jobs a good 'un.

Another bright sunny cloudless day here in Blighty, 28C .
A lazy morning doing nowt.
The heat is getting to me, I've been asleep most of the morning.
We seem to spend large parts of the day inside with the curtains closed.
I think we'll just go to Mozzers in Ince this arvo, it's too hot for walkies.

Mo, I pay about £32 for a wine kit, plus £1 for brewing sugar, and after losses due to racking, I get about 17 to 18 litres of wine.
I don't even bottle the wine any more as it's a faff, I use the grape concentrate containers, it keeps the wine perfectly well, because it doesn't last that long!!!!!!! LOL

A very big Saturday hello to all.
It's really good to be back.
It's also really good to be back on line.
As you may have read on my WR posts, I was unable to get on line all last week in our holiday property, I was livid.
We have a good rather than fantastic holiday.
Apart from no internet connection, the phone signal was hit and miss.
The worst however was the problem with flies.
We were staying at The Water House on the Houghton Hall Estate in Norfolk.
We have been there twice before, it's a lovely old building which dates from 1732.
The estate have built a new pig farm in the field adjacent to our cottage, I think the combination of pig waste and the long hot Summer we are having has caused the problem.
Anyroad, it was nice to visit our favourite places, Hunstanton, Wells-Next-the-Sea, and Norwich to name a few.

Mo, have a good day in Southport.

sweetener-sweet-sewer-newer-ewer-ween-west-western.

Well done with the words Marie.
I've left loads for Mo and Vince.

Lizzie, it's good to be back on your little site LOL
Glad I could catch the last post of the week.
I've been catching up with all the posts last week.
Sounds like you had a cracking day out with your Sis
Thanks as ever

We got our new Son-in-Law a gift card and birthday card.
We got two 7” x 5” picture frames for the wedding photos we have ordered.
I got some new sunglasses, watch it start to rain now!!!!! LOL
Anyroad, a good day out was had.

Sounds like a good day out was had yesterday Mo
My mouth was watering thinking of fish and chips, yum
The Spitting Feathers shop in Gidlow Lane was shut because the landlord wanted Steve the owner out of the shop, he had put the rent up and was generally being an ass over what he could and couldn’t do in the shop.
Steve’s son now runs the Bolton shop and he has diversified into cleaning patios and guttering.

Very well done with the words everybody, I don’t think I can add.

Lizzie, I hope you can survive your Winter, I’m sure you’re well prepared for it.
Thanks as ever

Hello all,it's going warmer by the minut..just got back from Garden Centre,
I sent away for a pink pampas grass early this year..I've wanted one for
ages,it's growing like mad but no sign of plumes so asked the gardeners
down there who've told me what to feed it on,but on reading about it on
Google found out it use to be a secret sign of swingers if put in front of the
house..just imagine..

Ray,I know it's going to cost you but the old saying..things could be worse
comes to mind.

You did well Marie.

The reason my door mirror is so expensive is because it has a heated element for demisting and frosty mornings, and it is also retractable.
It also contains an indicator light.

A good day to everybody.
A warm cloudy sunny day here in Blighty, 23C coming back from cardiac class this morning.

Mo and Vince, we love our Skoda Yeti, and we'll need it next week.
We are staying at Little Laight Cottage at Cairnryan, it is high up over the moors overlooking the harbour where the Irish ferries sail from.
Do a Google of it.
It is reached by a long steep rough largely unmade track and is only suitable for off roaders.
A fabulous space to be in, with nobody near for miles.

rota-trot-metro-aero.

I found the words hard to come by today.
I have hopefully left loads for Our Mo.
Well done to Marie and Vince.

Lizzie, we leave Saturday morning for Bonnie Scotland, so this is my penultimate post.
We don't have wi-fi next week, so I will be incommunicado.
I'm sure you'll manage without me!!!!! LOL
Thank you for our wordage, it is appreciated

A good day to everybody.
A warm cloudy day here in Blighty with a little rain earlier, 23C forecast.
A busy morning doing my lawns and generally getting ready for our hols.

Mo, it's good that you have a friend like Elizabeth, I don't post much on WW. but I do read the posts and Elizabeth seems like a nice lady.
Vince, I hope you can survive the heat that is forecast, I can't imagine temps in the 40's.
Marie, we love Scotland, and thankfully it will be a little cooler up there next week.

Have a great weekend everybody

turns out that I'm one of the lucky ones...Vince knows who they were ..there
was always five of us girls at School that did and went everywhere
together..but as I said that left little old me..and to have another female to
chat with is great as I'm sure you'll agree..thanks once more.xx💜
