cent, scan, cast, scat, catty, case, cant, tact,

Not so good Lizzie but my brain has had a good workout. Lovely sunny day today as was yesterday. There were loads on Ashfield Park and Mesnes Park when I came past yesterday.

A very good Monday to all
A lovely sunny bright and occasionally cloudy day here in Blighty, 15C forecast, but set to turn cooler.
Hope you've all had a good weekend.

Spent the morning fitting a new power switch for the en-suite shower, the old one had started to smell of burn, anyroad, job's a good one.
Then measuring my drain excavations and looking on t'internet for paving flags.
This arvo, a walk round Hindley Cemetery, not as morbid as it sounds, it's a pleasant space to be in.

I'm sure our Mo's enjoying this nice spell of weather, I hope you're in the garden.

Well done Marie, you've started us off.

Loads more for Our Mo
Vince is travelling, hope he has a safe journey.

Lizzie, Monday once more and a brand new thread, well done.
I hope your tests prove OK.
Always a good idea to have these things checked out.
Thanks for the start of our weekly wordage

Hello everyone..its a lovely day ,done the usual shop, then thought I'd have a do at making Soda Bread, but don't think too much of it really.....unless I need more practice..so simple to make though..might be me..mind you I'm
not a bread lover at the best of times.

cine,sect,scant,scanty,static,tacit,tice,ascent.nice.

You've been busy our Ray haven't you..re the cemetery..we often enjoy a
walk around, say hello to my Mam,Dad,Michael,my lovely Brother and
Grandparents, and friends...Were not finishing up there though..no way.
I don't think it's morbid it's a very peaceful place.

Marie you did well didn't you,are you off somewhere today

As Ray said our Lizzie we hope your tests turn out fine which I'm sure they
will be....I bet enjoyed you enjoyed that cuppa too..thank you again for
keeping us all happy.xx

Mo You make me jealous with your baking, painting and gardening. especially your flagging your back garden. When I was young, gardening was my hobby. I dug up the lawn and made two wide borders with alsorts of bushes and flowers, with a gravel path between. Now it's too much for me and I wish it was flagged.

Posted by: momac (8006)  Report abuse
Marie..there's no need to feel jealous flower..but remember you only get out
life what you put into it..flagging is a bit too much work as you get older but
that fake grass looks like it could be the answer..mind you I don't know how
much it is...I don't know how big your garden is but if you got a couple of
bedding plants a week and just keep planting them on the parts that are a
problem..they'll soon grow and expand..as I say just a couple a week..
Bedding Begonias are a good one and they flower until September..I get
them from Kiwi Nurseries Arbor Lane...and Heathers are good too.

Posted by: lizziedownunder (5989)  Report abuse
Good morning everyone...💜...well hopefully all my results will be as good as they were last time...😊...talking about fake grass ..we have problems with it here getting too hot for kids to walk on it barefoot as we get hugely high temperatures...still over there I am sure it will be fine,.,well done with all your words...😊👍

A very good day to all
A bit cloudy earlier, but a sunny bright day is forecast 10C, so a bit cool.
Hope I find you all well.

I'm at the doctors mid afternoon today for a medication review, so nothing to worry about.

Nice of you to give out gardening advice Mo, I'm not a "natural" at it, and see it more of a chore than an enjoyment.

Well done Marie, hope you have a good day in Bowton , not been to the shops for a while.

Hi to Mo and Marie.
Sorry I’ve not been on before now, bit of an unusual routine today.
It’s Susan’s 70th Birthday, so we’ve been at our Kits all afternoon,
She made a lovely chocolate Birthday cake for her.

I’ve just made our evening dinner (we’re posh LOL ) and washed up, and just having 10 minutes before I run her to Bolton Family History Society which she is going to for the first time tonight.
I will get the “Cryptics” posted when I get back and then I will pick her up about 8-45, so I hope to mark some of the posts first (am I making sense?).

Marie as regards text size when post, I don’t know what your Web Browser is, I am using Mozilla Firefox.
If you go the where the address bar is at the top, and then go the extreme right hand side, you should see an “icon” consisting of three horizontal bars.
Click on that and it brings up a dialogue box.
You should see “plus” and “minus” symbols.
Click them to go bigger or smaller.
Hope that helps.

Posted by: raymyjamie (4756) Report abuse
Marie, just had a thought, you're probably not on Mozilla Firefox as a broswer.

Why don't you Google "How do I change my text size on......." and the add the name of your browser.

It will probably be "Microsoft Edge" or "Google Chrome".

A big hello to all
A cool cloudy day here in Blighty, 10C forecast.

Hope everybody is well.
Today, a lazy morning doing nowt after the rushing around on Susan’s birthday.

As mentioned before we are having all the hedges and trees in the rear and side garden dug up as I type.
We’ve had the sound of a chainsaw for the last 3 hours, music to my ears LOL
Hopefully he’ll be gone early afternoon so we plan to go to “Go Outdoors” on Caroline St.

I’m a little early due to having time on my hands.

Herbicide-herd-dice-deer-bird-reed.

Well done Marie, I’ve hopefully left Our Mo and Vince some.

Big thanks as ever

We’ve had the garden absolutely blitzed Mo.
I cannot believe how much organic material he has taken away with him.
The garden is opened up and airy, very pleased.
So tomorrow I am organising new fencing next, raising it up at the back for privacy and extending it down the sides where we’ve had trees and bushes removed.

Many thanks for your Birthday wishes everyone, I have passed them on to Susan, and yes Mo, you can call in for a piece of chocolate cake, delish

Thanks again to Mo and Ray for sorting my computer out. Hope Vince is settled in at home now.

The Rugby wasn't very good last night but we have got loads of first teamers out. St Helens next Friday. I hope we have some more players back. I don't like saying that because the young lads are trying their best.

You’re right Mo, we are doing the fencing for privacy, not that I do much nude gardening LOL, and next door is up for sale and empty, so I’ve cleared up the mess on their drive this morning.

I would never tell you to shush Mo, would I dare!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

I had a Google of the plant Cyclamen Montana Rhubens, and I have to say it is just lovely, , but ultimately it would require pruning feeding etc, which is why we are being garden vandals and ripping everything up.
The area where the hedges was will be converted to extra lawn which is fairly easy to look after.

A very good Saturday to all
A lovely sunny bright cloudless day here in Blighty, 18C forecast.
Hope I find you all well.

I did a little too much yesterday and I'm full of aches and pains, so an easy morning for me.
I went to the Council Waste Facility at Amberswood this morning with my greenery rubbish from yesterday, it was heaving, there was a 200 metre queue just to get into the building, so I turned round.
Will go in the week when it's quiet.

Mo. hope you've got that painting going, sound interesting.
I would imagine portraiture to be one of the hardest disciplines, anyway good luck with it

I've started to build a rectangular brick chamber from about 40cm (16") underground.
I will build it up to just above ground level, and will cap it with a metal plate.
It will give access to my drains, and save having to dig down if there are any future drain problems.
It's Hindley History Society tonight, so we're just having a leisurely walk round Hindley Cem. this arvo.

A big hello to all
A cool cloudy day wet here in Blighty, 11C.
A bit late today, I have struggled with t’internet this lunchtime, kept buffering on both WW and WR.
I am blazing as we are supposed to be on superfast BT Infinity and on 50mbs!!!!!!!!! (my ar……….. LOL )

Just back from Our Kits, will tell you more tomorrow.

I had a very busy day bricklaying yesterday, and got about half of it done.
I was glad of the rain today as I’m literally aching all over, so a lazy morning was had doing tonight’s cryptic clues.

Mo. I could just go a piece of your home baked wholemeal bread, I’m a big big bread lover, and generally only eat wholemeal.
Keep promising myself to make my own.

Well done to Marie and Mo
Bet you’re glad your decorating’s done Vince, any more words?

A big hello to all
A bit late again today, another busy day bricklaying, I have now got most of it done thankfully.
I got in the bath mid afternoon and had a good soak, so feel slightly better now.

Well our little girl has flown the nest.
We went up to our Kits yesterday afternoon to wish them farewell, it was a bit emotional.
She and her fiancée have moved today to Connors Quay in North Wales.
They are renting a property while they renovate their own house which is nearby.
We will miss her like mad.

Well done everybody with the words.
I don’t think I can add any more.

Lizzie, what an excellent BP, and your cholesterol nothing to worry about, well done you.
Must be good Australian tucker and the sunshine lifestyle, good on yer.

That must have been awful.
We’re obviously not going to be able to see our daughter every week like we did, albeit for 20 minutes, but they are only an hours drive away, and when we do see them it will hopefully be quality time.

“are’nt we soft?”

No we’re not Mo, it’s just natural parental love.
I seem to remember your son driving down from Gateshead one evening and then driving back all in the same evening, that’s love.

They had a successful move yesterday and are settled in and desperately unpacking all the stuff.
We figured we will see her less, but when we do drive over there we will have quality time together.
Also, we are looking to buy a webcam, so we can skype.

A big hello to all
A cool sunny cloudy day here in Blighty, 11C.
A bit late, so many apologies.
A busy morning/afternoon bricklaying, and finally got my little construction finished.
By the time I had cleared up, got a bath and a soak in and grabbed a quick bite, it was 3 o’clock and we needed to go to Sainsies in Leyth.
Hope I find everybody well.

Mo we had a lovely cherry tree in the front garden, and it was fantastic in bloom this time of year, but it caused our lawn to be in shade and the roots were shallow and cause problems mowing the lawn, so being the garden vandals that we are, we ripped it up.

Well done with the words everybody.
Yours truly has neither the physical or mental reserves to do any more LOL
Have a great Easter weekend

Lizzie, I think your daughter and hubby made a wise decision to choose Oz over the UK, well done they.

A big midweek hello to all
A cloudy but pleasant day here in Blighty, 11C.

A very busy morning in the garden, trying to clear away all the foliage from next door to allow the new fence to be fitted.
It's an absolute nightmare, really overgrown.
We have brambles and deadwood, but most of all an infestation of ivy.
We are going to Bents Garden Centre this arvo, to look for some "treatment" which might get rid of the ivy.
The tree surgeon who came the other week recommended diesel fuel sprayed on it.
I would hate to fit a new fence only for it to be strangled.

Well done to Marie.
Hope your painting is coming on Mo.
The story of your school exercise book is interesting as I was a avid sketcher and drawer when I was younger, and like you have nothing left to show for it.

Hello all, your weather sounds very similar to ours Vince..we have a touch
of sun.

Yesterday I woke up with a stiff neck..had them before, but this one is a
cracker..then walking up the garden path..cracked my foot on coping stone
toe and foot swollen, black and blue..took painkillers before going to bed and thought of nicer things.so no Southport tomorrow..very painful
apart from that..I'm champion.

Only our Ray..to come..boy is he busy with that Friday night quiz..we'd be
lost without our Lizzie and Ray for entertainment.

Glad you're back as well Vince

Thank you our Lizzie, you're a love.xx

A big Saturday hello to all
A lovely bright sunny day here in Blighty, 13C.
Very late again, so many apologies.
A busy morning getting my garden prepared for the fencing, I worked right through to 1-30pm.
Had a quick bite and we’ve been up Rivvy.
Back for a salmon salad and just settling down now.

Blimey Mo, you’re in the wars aren’t you
It’s easily done, but with your medical background you’ll know what best to do.
I expect rest and painkillers are the order of the day.
It’s a pity you are missing a trip out, but there’s always another day.

Very well done with the words everybody.
Yours truly can’t add any more.
Will see you all on Monday , have a lovely weekend

Lizzie, I bet you’re chomping at the bit with your holidays on the horizon.
Thanks for our week’s wordage and have a great weekend

A busy morning in the garden prepping for our fencing.
Susan has a bad back so I may be on my own for an afternoon walk.

Mo. how's that foot doing, I hope you're resting it.
I bet you're mad cos you like to be active, especially this time of the year.
That said the weather is set to turn cold so you may be better off indoors.

Hello to all
A cloudy sunny pleasant day earlier, now clouding over ready for the Wintery onslaught, 11C.

I overdid things yesterday, so I'm having a restful afternoon after our mornings shop.
I'm having to be "chief cook and bottle washer" while Susan is a bit fragile, but that's what you do isn't it?, look out for each other.
She'll be as right as ninepence in a couple of days.

Mo. hope your foot is improving, it could be a long job if it's swollen, I'm sure you'll give yourself the best possible treatment.

Well done Marie, you always start us off

Lizzie, I had to Google to learn more about what ANZAC Day was about.
8000 lost their lives at Gallipoli and 60,000 Australians during WW1, those are absolutely appalling casualties and should never be forgotten.
Thankfully pictures of ANZAC Day on the Internet show lots of flag waving and general cheering and waving, so not at all sad.
Thanks as ever

Always enjoy a trip to the Trafford Centre, it was lovely under the glass roof with the bright blue sun overhead.
We went clothes shopping for Susan for the hols, but everything is skinny this and skinny that, so no luck.
We spent a total of £7-50 for sandwiches, crisps and a drink, so I didn’t spend too much after all LOL.

The gardens definitely need some.

I hope you're all enjoying this weather..Marie,if you're still weeding,don't
forget your sun cream....talking of weeding,I got some weed killer this a.m
got fed up of turning round to find another one in the same spot..I don't like
using it really in case there are worms just below the cracks in the patio
paving stones...but needs must I'm afraid.

Vince..it's time to come out of the sea ...only jealous

Thanks our Lizzie..hope you have a nice trip out. xx

A wet and cooler day here in Blighty, 13C, but trying to brighten up now in late afternoon.
A bit late after a busy day.
I’ve been working outside for the last 3 weeks and have neglected the inside, so have spent most of the day cleaning and tidying up the interior.

Very well done with all the words everybody, this weary soul can’t add any more.

Mo. You’re a good soul with your baking and cooking for folk.
If I may ask your advice, I’m a great believer in eating for health, and in a rash moment several months ago bought some green and brown lentils ( 2 separate packets) and now don’t know what to do with the b*ggers!!!!!! LOL
Have you a decent recipe for Lentil Soup or Lentil anything really?.
You could PM me on WR if needed, or use my e-mail, thanks.

Lizzie, hope you had a cracking day out with Sis and didn’t sup too much LOL
Take care

Ray..I would have posted at exactly the same time as you but for Cliff
shouting me to hold the ladder while he put the bird food on top of the bathroom, halfway through my typing.

Posted by: raymyjamie (4756) Report abuse
A likely story Mo LOL

You've just reminded me to top up my bird feeder in the front garden.
The birds have not been feeding as good as usual, I think me cutting next door's hedges back has meant less places for cover.
Anyroad you have to do your best for them don't you?

Posted by: momac (8006)  Report abuse
Tis true I tell yer.. we have to put feed as far away from Flossie the cat
as we can..she can be a little bugger with the birds..she can get on top of
the bathroom but by the time she gets there they've spotted her.🐈🐈

Posted by: raymyjamie (4756) Report abuse
Mo I didn't understand the significance of what you were telling me, now I understand.

My feeding station is in the front garden and it's a tall metal post which has brackets for a water bowl and mesh feeding tray, also various brackets for seed holders and fat ball holders, it's a regular McDonalds for the little b*ggers LOL

Posted by: momac (8006)  Report abuse
Ray,we used to have a feeding station until I saw a huge rat scaling the
post after the peanuts..there's a pizza shop quite close to us and we
think that attracted them,so we took the station down....our cat caught one
once, but I'm a bit wary of her bringing one back home..as that's what cats do..

Posted by: MarieM (4653) Report abuse
Mo, I am having trouble with my Email again.

Posted by: raymyjamie (4756) Report abuse

Never thought of other creatures feeding off our station Mo.
I’ll be wary of that in future.
There is only an open mesh tray which I put bread on, the seeds are in a sealed dispenser and fat balls are in a mesh basket.
We have a woods in front of our house, I wonder if the squirrels have been helping themselves LOL
The thought of a rat feeding doesn’t exactly fill me with joy!!!!!!!

Marie, I hope you can read this post some time soon.

From what Eront has typed to me you are not seeing the normal Wigan Rejects Home page.

On the normal WR home page you should see “Home” “Register” and “Log in” just to the left of the Wigan Rejects logo.

I would start by getting to the WR site by typing the website address in the address bar at the top of the screen.

This is :-

www.wigan-rejects.com

Hopefully this will get you to the Wigan Rejects normal Home page.

Click on “Register” (this is signing in as a new member).

You will see the terms of the forum displayed and be asked to agree to them.

A page will then appear for “Registration Information”.
You need to type in :-

Username – a new one.
e-mail address. – your current one.
Password – a new one.

Click ”Save”.

Hopefully that will get you signed in as a new member on Wigan Rejects.

Hope this sorts you out.

Posted by: MarieM (4653) Report abuse
When I clicked on to Wigan rejects, it gave a threat from 2014 where someone was telling out the new thread Wigan rejects and a link. I clicked onto the link and then I tried again and I got into wigan rejects. Brilliant. Thank you to everyone.

A very good Bank Holiday Monday to all
A dull damp cool day here, 13C.
Because the weather is typically Bank Holiday weather we're having a drive out over the tops this arvo, through Holcombe, Helmshore, Haslingden Grane and Turton, and then drop down into Bolton.

Well Mo, I finally got round to doing your lentil soup this morning and I am not disappointed.
I'll post a little about it later on today, were off out in a few minutes.

blame-bail-bale-bite-imbue.

Well done to Vince, best of luck with your hospital appointment.
I hope I've left some for Our Mo and Marie.

Lizzie, I had to resort to the Urban Dictionary website to fathom out "doona".
Doona is 1960's Australian slang for a quilt or blanket.
The doona differs fron the quilt, eider-down and duvet in that it has a removable, washable cover thus eliminating the need for cover sheet and blankets.
The name comes from an advertising campaign in the 1960's in Australia by the furniture company Ikea.
Of course you knew all that.
I think here in the UK it's called a "Continental Quilt".
Thanks for our Monday wordage

EDIT - I took so long to type my post, I missed you Mo

Just reading the "Southport" thread, most interesting, especially the mention of Napolean his tree lined streets.

Mo, I've left you a PM on WR, no need to reply, I've prattled on a bit LOL

A very belated hello to all.
A slightly damp and cloudy day here in Blighty, 16C.
A bit late cos the fence folk turned up unannounced this morning to do phase 2 of our garden work, so I’ve been looking after them and supervising till they went off site late afternoon, and then we had to cram in our Friday shopping.
Anyroad we are Posh now.

Well done to Mo and Marie, enjoy your break Marie.
Mo, I thought that little story on WR about Napoleon III and the tree lined streets of Southport was an absolute gem.

buns-unbent-unblest- and sublet (bit dodgy) is all I have.

Lizzie, cold and wet it seems for you.
Don’t these Fridays keep coming round LOL.
Thanks for our wordage
