flies

Started by: PeterP (11230)

Over the last few days we had about 1/2 dozen flies buzzing round the house. I have killed all bar one by swatting them(wife does not like fly spray). The one left must be like a ninja every time I get anywhere near it disappears to turn up in another room.I will not give up and will get it.

get one o these

They're really good, easier than swatting, can get them in mid air, and no squashed fly to clean off your window or whatever.

Last few days doing my strawberry plants, noticed prodigious numbers of spiders that I am disturbing. All appear to be same variety: must google strawberry and spider, see if I learn owt.

Peter, when you've collected all the dead ones up, put them in your car boot and dump them up Drummers Lane.
But cover your number plate up before you go, or else you might get reported for 'fly tipping'.

Boom, Boom!

Apparently I was wrong. In searching for a match, I think I have discovered that what I saw were not spiders but harvestmen.

Given the last two mild, frost-free winters, the fly problem has not been as great as I expected it to be.

I wonder if the Spring frosts: both years had a freeze on May Day, put paid to a lot of the overwintering pupae, larvae or eggs.

What I have noticed to be in abundance are slugs!

The best things I ever bought are two of the electric zappers, the kind you see in cake shops, brilliant & catches them all as they're attracted to the strip light.
