I really like onions: would feel really deprived if only one per week!

Cindy, I put onions in everything!
Keep them in the mesh bag and hang them up, so the air can circulate, they keep for ages then.
Make French onion soup and freeze it. Add the bread and cheese when you thaw it.
I'm a big fan of caramelised onion quiche, I must admit I usually cheat with the pastry case and use a shop bought one but it freezes well if your making it ahead of time. I usually take it out the freezer the night before and put in the fridge. I also have one of those silicone Pie crust protectors to stop the edge from burning, works a treat!
I have one like this, can't remember where I bought it though!

I buy a bag of onions & they last weeks if I leave them in the garage,if I just need one onion then I'd buy one from the veg stall on the outside market.

I love onions, and cook with them regularly, when I was younger my Mam
would have one boiled for me every night after I'd been to the Emp..lump of
butter and salt mmmm..and they keep the common cold away...one of
natures antibiotics.

is it possible to freeze onions either whole or diced up?,this might sound a simple question to all the cooks on here but as a person who can burn a boiled egg I would appreciate your comments.

Morning Joe, yes you can freeze them if your going to use them in something like a stew, or soup. Chop them up, bag them, and just chuck a handful straight in when you want to use them. No need to thaw.

Talking of freezing things I read something earlier that if I had known years ago I could have saved a fortune. I was always told that once you de-frosted something it could not be frozen again. Seems this is not true. If you defrost a tray of chicken breasts but only use half you can referee the rest.

Graneyjoseph,
Article in the Daily Mail today about it.

Sorry everyone. Completely misread the article. What it actually says is that if you cooked all the chicken you could freeze what you didn't use. ]

You never know: I have got some German recipes which call for Black Pepper on Strawberries!

Joe, well, maybe I exaggerated a tiny bit
Priscus, I put balsamic vinegar on strawberries
Replied: 5th Jul 2016 at 16:59
Yes. I have a few recipes incorporating that: Tastes better than similar ones with Calvados.

Strawberries, Cucumber and Balsamic. Very tasty. Even throw some Feta into the mix.
