What it does show, to me at least, is how good De Bruyne, Silva etc. are at City as between them they have sent Sterling to the World Cup. At best he is average but when surrounded by the stars at City he seems half decent.

Its the favourite pastime of english sport fans .

Knock the team or individual irrespective of whats been achieved .

I recall when golfer Nick Faldo Was winning majors for fun and beating the best in the world he was criticised for boring play especially when he shot 18 straight pars in the final round to win the Open at Muirfield .

So you think this is a good team that you would willingly buy a season ticket to watch. With all due respect I am giving an opinion and not knocking the team. How many world class players in the team today. Kane at best and how many touches did he have against a run of the mill team? Would you put Henderson, Sterling or Stones in the United team??

Up to now their opposition has been weak apart from Belgium whom they lost to.

Not getting carried away in the slightest.
Just saying that you can only beat those that are put in front of you and credit the team for doing that at least.

It was patently obvious today that we lack craft in midfield which will most likely come to haunt us when the chips are down.

I hate to appear negative and fervently hope they do win the cup but something tells me they won't. Look at Belgium with De Bruyne and Hazard in the team. Different class.

i, for one, didn't think we would get this far, i don't think many had great expectations. the team seems to have gelled the longer it's gone on. it's not englands fault that germany, argentina, spain and uruguay have gone, so it dosen't wash with me that they have had it easy. i agree with jarvo, if we do manage to get through and meet belgium, it will be a top of the table premier league clash, and as people know, difficult to predict, so come on get behind them, and enjoy !!

How do I did that? I said I “ fervently hope they win it” However that doesn’t change my opinion that they have some very average players in the team. At the end of the game, irrespective of the result, I don’t feel I have watched a good game. Because of the nature of other results they have just beaten the 24th FIFA ranked team in the world in the quarter final and now play the 20th FIFA ranked team in the world in the semis. That is the nature of knockout football but even if they win it I still won’t view most of the side as world class. Sorry if my opinion doesn’t coincide with others and where I live in the world has nothing to do with my opinion.

broady, the so called better sides had "world class players" but still got knocked out. in my opinion they had average players who relied on the class players to get them through, didn't play as a team that's why they went. in my opinion, england may not have the best players, but they play as a team, every one of them tries their best, if it's not good enough to win it , so be it. this england team was written off before they went, i'm including myself in that, but what i have seen is a revelation. there are no prima donnas like we've had in the past, just a squad of genuine players who pull their tripe out for one another. i can't speak for anyone else, but if your team gives 100% and gets beat i would be sad,but at the same time be proud because they gave everything, you can't ask for anymore than that. cmon england.
