Zlatan

Started by: GOLDEN BEAR (6555)

This is mainly for my Man Untd supporter's on here.
I would like to ask you this What do you think about Man United not taking an extra year's option on Zlatan ?
I will give you mine i think United are an heartless board in not giving a player who as scored 28 goals in his debut season 28 i mean come i am struggling to find a player or the last player who have come anywhere near 28 , AS i have said for me i would give him one more season after all if it were not for him we would not be in Europe, nor do i believe would we have won any of the three we have now. There would nothing make my season more looking forward to than seeing ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC turning out in the RED DEVIL'S SHIRT!
P.S. Yet we all know UNITED can be cruel a lot of the time.

They may have seen the scans from his knee op. They may have decided that he is ultra expensive. His bonus for scoring goals came to almost one million pounds in one four week period plus his contract payments. They may have Ronaldo and three more younger strikers lined up. All will be revealed.

"Despite undergoing succesful surgery in America in May, the Swede is not expected to return until January at the earliest,

It is believed that United decided against offering him a new deal on wages reported to be around £300,000 a week."

From todays MEN.

They've done the right thing he was what was needed for one season, a big signing to lift the fans but someone younger and quicker is what is required for the longer term.
It works both ways GB, if reports are to be believed the contract for the extra season was on the table but he was waiting to see if we qualified for the Champions League (as if not) before signing. As already stated £300 grand a week wages for a player out for 6 months, and no guarantees what he will be like when he comes back is a no no. Same with Rooney, if he goes off the wage bill that's a lot of money released that can be used to entice other players

chatty,
As we know everyone out after a long term absence takes a while to get up to speed, however fit they are, so it could be a while later than Jan before he is at anywhere near acceptable fitness levels. Thanks for a good season but the decision is correct.

broady,
He scored quite a few and some important goals but the tempo of the game was slower when he was on the pitch and everything had to go through him. Once a defence gets set if they are well drilled they will be hard to break down no matter who the players are, so speed is key.
There's no sentiment in football and it's not like he'll be needing an appointment at Brocal House!

Bad decision. They should have kept him. The hardest thing in football is scoring goals. He scores goals fact.

He wouldn't be scoring many goals for the next six months on one leg fact.

Dependant on who United sign there may not even be a starting place for him if the replacement/replacements and Rashford are going well. That could be 300,000 a week to be a back up player.

If he'd have been fit and scoring he would have been given a new one year contract, he isn't so hasn't fact.

28 goals in 41 starts. next player in the goal charts 11 goals. And as I said when fit he will score goals fact.

its alright another donkeys on his way if rumours are to be believed 68 million for a bang average player united trying their best to buy the league since 2013

Everybody agrees he scores goals when fit, but to pay someone £8 million in wages whilst out injured with no guarantee how good he will be after coming back from a cruciate knee ligament would be bad business fact.

All these "bang average players" and all these players who "wont sign" and we still won a treble, can't be far off "getting it right" now then can we!

when he got injured he decided not to accept any wages from United until he got fit. So it would not have cost them anything fact.

He only has a contract until June 30th, so not accepting wages
on a contract he doesn't actually have is quite magnanimous fact.

He got injured in April so he had a contract as you said till the 30 of June so he gave up two months wages fact.

the only true FACT is united now only buy one season wonders hoping they get to the champions league the past 5 years is littered with said one season wonders FACT

Yes and he is now out of the game for a least 6 months maybe longer, United will have to submit their squads for the various comps at the beginning of the season so to include a player who may be unfit all season at the expense of a new signing or promising youth team player would be madness fact.
