I am sure we all echo your thoughts but I must be missing something as I haven't really enjoyed any of their games yet. I think they are a bunch of average players who have beaten no one of substance yet. That said I haven't seen any really outstanding teams. No South American teams in semis tells you football is in the doldrums there. Four European teams but no Spain, Italy, Portugal, Germany or Holland which tells you international football in Europe is at a low ebb.

Not so much ‘at a low ebb’ broady, as at a ‘changing of the guard’.
The teams you mentioned have tried to rely on players past their sell by date as far as I’m concerned, and the ones left have started to bring on the youth!
