THE OPEN
Started by: grimshaw (1672)  Report abuse
The Open starts Thursday on the historic Portrush links in Northern Island.

I love a bet on most sports but golf in particular.

My five for the tournament are .

RORY..I will win many sovs if he wins it .less so if in first 6 but still happy .
KOEPKA .

DUSTIN JOHNSON .

JON RAHM .

LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN.A lively outsider at 50s.

Good luck to everyone having a bet on the tournament .

Should be a great atmosphere around the whole of Portrush. Plenty of the black stuff consumed and plenty of “ golf tales” Not having a bet, so far, but good luck to Rory.

Patrick Cantlay, Adam Scott, Paul Casey, Haotong Li, are the picks from the 'Oddschecker' tipster. I don't know if it's the same guy who did last year's write up but then he put me onto Molinari (25s winner)and Xander Schauffele(100-1 ew) who finished 4th.

OMG, the millionaires are back in town...

I'd rather watch netball than mummy's boy Rory curse as he fails to make the 'cut'.

Bring on the mighty Wolves...PLEASE.

Dont look at oddschecker chatty .

Only tipster i follow is Hugh Taylor on A T R .terrific tips he gives and always shows an end of season profit on the horses .

Good luck with selects everyone .

COME ON RORY .

my pick is speith for me grim.

Posted by: builderboy (2100) Report abuse
Rory stated with a quadruple bogey 8 on the 1st hole.

Doesn't bode too well although, at the time of posting he is standing at 3 over.

Posted by: grimshaw (1672)  Report abuse
Bad start from Rory .

Seemed to be weighed down by the tremendous expectation.

Will need to shoot a 66/7 tomorrow which he is well capable of doing .

Write him off at your peril although Koepka is striking the ball superbly .

stop making excuses grimshaw and admit you've made a james hunt of yoursel AGAIN..

Posted by: jarvo (29168)  Report abuse
Rory didn't quite 'cut' it...

Or did he?

Posted by: laughing gravy (4520) Report abuse
grimshaw..

Posted by: chatty (6640)  Report abuse

Eh up, he's back again.
Never start's a thought provoking debate of any interest whatsoever himself, just lurks in the shadows waiting to post when someone come's up with a popular thread and a prediction that doesn't hit the mark!

Posted by: jarvo (29168)  Report abuse
Tough, Rory, but a fine effort in the end...

Posted by: laughing gravy (4520) Report abuse
two faced get you jarvo one minute your calling him next you suckholin....

Posted by: grimshaw (1672)  Report abuse
Clearly he is a 22 carat saddo Chatty.

What a sad mundane life he must lead trawling the web for negative stuff to post.

Rory will learn from the last couple of days and come back stronger .

My other 4 selects are in a good position so i am optimistic of collecting a good few sovs come Sunday .Think Koepka is very well placed to win .

Great day of golf. Listening to tomorrow’s weather forecast it will sort the wheat from the chaff. Lowery must be well accustomed to the predicted weather. Day made better with another win for OGS’s team.

Posted by: laughing gravy (4520) Report abuse
thats right broady start crowing about meaningless friendly's,my offer of a wager still stands if you the bullocks

Posted by: broady (14481)   Report abuse
50/1 I can get. If I send a grand over next week in readies would you deposit my potential winnings somewhere safe?? As I told you I will have a bet week by week if the game and odds appeal to me.

did you see the interview from the actors house who lives overlooking the first whole. can't thik of his name now and it's driving me mad. Irish and he's done lots of drams on TV. Jim??

Posted by: grimshaw (1672)  Report abuse
The oaf clearly hasnt a scooby what you are on about broady .
If the forecast is right it will sort out .

The links depend on wind for its defence so i hope it does blow today .
Still think koepka will be right in the mix . Should be terrific T V .
Didnt see the interview Kath.

Posted by: grimshaw (1672)  Report abuse
Terrific Fossil.
I lost a few sovs ,Koepka got a few sovs back for me but LOWRY a deserved winner .

Posted by: broady (14481)   Report abuse
Best about it Fossil is he never seemed in trouble. Counting your dosh three furlongs from home.

Posted by: fossil (6665) Report abuse
Well my mate backed Lowry at 16's after round 1,but he cashed out after 11 holes for about 2/3 of the money. The weather was shocking so I suppose anything could have happened, and blowing a four shot lead at Oakmont was always in the back of the mind.

Posted by: grimshaw (1672)  Report abuse
I was influenced by that fossil and also that he had missed the cut for 4 years running in the open.
I looked at his amateur record and should have had an interest but well done you for going for him .

Posted by: blackrodweaver (549) Report abuse
Grimmy Im off to Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club for the Seniors open on Friday/Sat lots of well know famous golfers of past years on show. Hope David Shacklady does well come on leaps and bound since getting on the senior tour.

Posted by: grimshaw (1672)  Report abuse
Sure you will enjoy brw.Be good to see the greats of yesteryear playing .

Terrific course is lytham .Scene of Jacklins open of course and Sevy ,when the yanks chucked dummies out and called him the car park champ.
ENJOY BRW .

Posted by: fossil (6665) Report abuse
Paul Broadhurst seems to be in form, and if the open didn't take too much out of Darren Clarke he should go well,so I ave backed them.

Posted by: grimshaw (1672)  Report abuse
Good luck fossil..

Posted by: broady (14481)   Report abuse
Fossil,
Both of your selections are playing a few miles down the road from me at the end of August. I think there is “An evening with Darren Clarke” event one night. I know Langer and Montgomerie are playing also. Good luck with your bet.
