The cricket team that won on Sunday had a captain that previously played for Ireland, a bowler born in the West Indies and a matchwinner born in New Zealand. IMO you play for the country that you take your first breath in. Ancestry shouldn’t enter into it. Rugby Union is a roundabout in the Southern Hemisphere.
PS I turned down an invite to represent Canada at 5’s and 3’s and await my invite from the English selectors.

Bill
So if your parents were in the armed forces and you were to be born in say Iraq, are you saying that you could only represent Iraq?
Surely not?
What would happen if you were born prematurely when your mother was on a cruise in the middle of the Atlantic. Could you not play for anyone at all?
Lots of fine old English cricketers ( I believe that Colin Cowderey was an example) were born in areas of the old British Empire.
