Fairhursts

Does anyone have any information on Jack and Annie (nee Barrow) Fairhurt who had a butcher business in wigan in the 1940's. They had 2 children, a boy and a girl. tony,barrow@shaw.ca

there was a fairhursts butchers in barnsley street in the fifties.

Thanks Dave, I dont know where Barnsley St is, but they were probably still in business then as I think the son took over, I think his name is/was Richard, but i'm not sure.

There was a Jack Fairhurst's butchers on Darlington St East in the 1950s

I'm sure there was also a Fairhurst's butchers in Whelley in the 1960s.

You are right tuddy, the shop was opposite Moore St. East.

Thanks for the replies everybody.Does anyone have any idea what happened to the son and daughter?- they're my cousins and I'd like to contact them. Unfortunately, i dont know either of their names!

Dont know if this is any help but on births in wigan:-
John S Fairhurst(b) 1934 and Patricia Fairhurst (b) 1935
mothers maiden name Barrow

geraldine,that information would fit in with the butcher in Whelley. He had a son named John of that age,I am not sure but I think he did have a younger sister. He went to St. Stephens and Wigan grammar school, but that is all that I can add to the topic.

geraldine and marken, you've hit the jackpot for me!- kinda. I had an Idea the butchers shop was in whelley, I know the daughter is my age , and Patricia rings a bell!! Now all i need is to find out how to get in touch with them!!!(assuming they're still around, lol!) Thanks again you two!!!
