The Gathurst Murder 1868

Started by: jagman64 (332)

This short film was inspired by James Fairhurst's book Wigans worst victorian murders
apologies if any of the photographs are incorrect I had to improvise as some of the places no longer exist and where they do still exist they are now private houses who's owners do not appreciate fat weird'os pointing a camera through their windows.

jagman64...I have just finished reading that book from the library...very interesting it was too..there was one or two that took place near to where I was brought up in Great George St Wallgate..and that poor child..I bet she was terrified...he might have thought he'd got away with it but he had to meet his maker yet.

Aw poor little Annie, I found that quite upsetting. I doubt if he would have got away with it to-day, but like mojim says he had to make his maker lets hope he was sent to hell.

Jeffrey, could you not have had the script/story running horizontly along the bottom of the screen?
I found the scrolling up was getting in the way of the pictures.

Sorry if you think I'm being pedantic, but it's only a bit of constructive critisism.

Loved the dramatic music and the old paper clippings at the beginning.

I enjoyed that. (Sad story, though it was)

Are you thinking of doing similar shots of places from the book, Jagman? If so, I look forward to seeing them.

PS Your tongue-in-cheek comment is commendable.

Apologies if some of the photographs are not correct as some of the places no longer exist and where they do exist are now private houses whos owners do not appreciate fat weird'os pointin a camera through their windows.

Thanks for all the comments I did find it difficult to fit the text in any other way and for it to look right and in time with the music tracks, its not great but it was the best solution I could come up with, I am considering making more short films from the book.
