Here's one for you billy being that you are an old seadog
What was the name of the first ship that had sailed from the british isles and was sunk by a German u-boat off the coast of Ireland on 3 september 1939
A clue to the sinking is that it was a grave mistake by the skipper of the U-30, and what was her skipper's name

It was the Athenia sunk by U30 and LT.Fritz Julius Lemp was the man in charge,He hadn't got the hang of rules of engagement yet.

WOW, xr and tizzy, you guys are on the button
Lemp dropped probably one of the biggest cock up's of the U-Boat campaign when you consider Athenia was carrying a group of American's,and the yank's hadn't entered the war,
Nice one guy's, looks like I am going to have to dig deeper to get one over on you lot

No prob's billy, I'll be looking for something to try to catch the two brainy one's out with,
Has anyone been over to Birkenhead and seen the salvaged U-boat that is on show there, I've got a couple of photo's of it, I was talking to one of the organisers of the 'Historic Warship's' that are situated over there,
Apparently the U-boat was caught on the surface in a fiorjd (think I spelled that right)by one of our bombers returning from a raid, you can actually see where it was shot up around tail end, or aft as billy would say
