Robert Eden - Wigan Tec.

Started by: kenee (2111)

Does anyone remember Robert? Sadly he died suddenly from a heart attack last week.

He lived at Haydock before moving to Adlington in the mid 1970’s and then Colchester in the late 1980’s.

Robert was at Ashton Grammar School, 1960 - 1967, and was a tutor at Wigan Technical College in the 1970’s.

So sorry to hear this. I worked with Bob for a short time when I moved to the Technical College in 1983. He was a really nice guy and I was sorry to see him leave. So sad.

Robert was my cousin and I was at Ashton Grammar School with him. It seems strange when he is referred to as ‘Bob’, the family called him by his ‘Sunday name’, or Rob. He was named after our grandad, who was known as Bob, so if we called Robert ‘Bob’ as well it would have led to confusion. At school we all had nicknames, his was ‘Edie’.

Hi Kenee, sorry to read about Rob. I remember you both from AGS, it doesn't seem that long ago but time flies. Please accept my condolences. Regards, Barry.

Thanks Barry, good to hear from you after all these years, albeit not in the best circumstances. You're right, time does fly.

Hope you are keeping well.

You might find 'Juve' (JD) on here, he sometimes uses his own name, or Sagaman!
Look at photos of Ashton.

Kenee - I watched a dvd on old Haydock today and noticed a picture of a 'Pigeon Fanciers Award' made out to someone with the surname 'Eden'. I think it was from the Blackbrook end.

I'll have a further look, when I've time, and let you know their full name.
