They would appear to have married either at a non-conformist church or registry office.
Jane was born in 1868 in Salford the daughter of William a Fustian Cutter and Mary A. a Silk Winder

Father: Hinge Maker Abode: Ashton Heath

The above is 1861 when Josiah was a journeyman hingemaker [apprentice?]
in 1841 when Josiah was 6 he lived with his family in Peggys lane Winwick.
henry b1816 also a hingemaker
Ellen b1816
Jesse .1839
jebez b 1837
Jemima b1841

They liked their "j's" didn't they!
you'll need to look in Parish records before this but I think I saw Jebez' name this morning.

hi Kathpressey,

what a very helpful person you are.
I don't have access to the censuses but have had a great time looking at the online parishes yes they do like names with j !
and they all appear to be hinge makers!

well I'm a bit stuck on my tree so I enjoyed delving into yours. Happy to look anything up. Libraries should give you access to a site like Ancestry [they do down here and do tutorials too].
I expect there are still hinges around that your ancestors made.

I can't find any marriage record for a Cecilia Pilling at all and the only death I found was a Cicely Pillling b 1891 but died 1977 in St Helens.Perhaps she emigrated? I also have ancestors that seem to have disappeared.
