CHISNALLS

I am trying to trace my family, the Chisnalls. I am looking for descendants of John and Alice Ashcroft(nee Chisnall), who married at St. Thomas , Upholland in 1864. They lived at 49 Heald, Upholland. Their children were Margaret(born 1868),William(my great grandad born 1871)Alice Elizabeth(born 1873), John,1875 and Abraham,1877.
John died in 1876, aged 32, then Alice(nee Chisnall) married Arthur Allen from Leighton Buzzard. Their children were Mary, Thomas, Susannah and Emily and Arthur. They lived at the Robin Hood in Spencers Lane.

My Mothers maiden name was Chisnall but i cant remember her saying that there were relations in Upholland. I think her father was born in Garswood, There was quite a big family, i think 8 sisters & 8 brothers + other branches of the family. When they got married some lived in Billinge, My mother was born 1902 + most of the family around the turn of the century,

bentlegs,i found info about the Ashcrofts,in another post on here,and Alice Chisnall is in that family. Reading this thread,it just verifies that i had the right death for John Ashcroft...i was unsure,cos he was only a young man,and the death was only a month before his youngest son was born

bentlegs - there was a Jack Chisnall who lived in UpHolland. He worked in the pits - he would have been born around 1905 (that is a guess) he died around 1975ish.
