Did the late Tommy Eaves used to run his coach service from his house in Cansfield Grove in the 1940s?

Yes he did live on Cansfield Grove 40/50s across from the girls school gates, I remember he had a small place on Low Bank Road where he parked his coaches where the car cleaning place is now, he started off selling coal with a horse and cart

You never, or rarely, see any Eavesway coaches around anymore, and once they were everywhere. The only coach company you frequently see around Wigan now is Grayways. Hursts went bust, I think?, and Walls's merged with Grayways.

My dad used to often recall going on holiday to Abergele in the 1950s (before cars being more affordable for the masses),'and went with Eavesways when they first started doing trips. One time they had to wait six hours for the coach to come and pick them up. No motorways back then. Imagine waiting 6 hours today, theyd be out of business in no time.

Eavesway's coaches now do pick ups for cruises and still do team coaches for football

Was told by one of the Eavesway drivers that the coach they use for Manchester united has a fully fitted kitchen & storage area in the lower deck. very posh he said. used for MU only.

Eavesway on the frontline 2 years ago when the southern bubble-blowing scallys decided to celebrate their last match at The Boleyn Ground.
I assume they're insured.
