Is anyone planning their summer holiday in Torquay or planning to holiday in the UK?.

Torquay is very nice. handy for Paington and Brixham too. you can have a trip to Dsrtmoor. or visit towns like Plymouth, Totnes, Dartmouth etc

Dont forget to go to Flowers Farm to see the shire horses, near Totnes,

stay at the Grosvenor. Check out Channel 4 8pm Sunday, Hotel.

I have been to Torquay and it's lovely.

I went to Paignton 2 years ago with Shearings, although the ride back was a drag (due to a crash on the motorway) we enjoyed ever minute, you cant beat being driven everywhere and the trips out were good, I went to Torquay in the 70s with Walls tours and enjoyed that as well, only snag with Torquay, is with it being hilly, I have a friend who did 3 tours to Scotland last year and is thinking of going again, I quite liked the Centre Parc holidays, been 3 times up till now, Ive only been abroad twice, once to Florida, (brilliant) and Jersey (it was shut)

We are off to Straspeffer, in Scotland in a few weeks, its a long ride, close to Inverness, with Shearings coaches, great out of season bargain, and we're off to Italy, Lake Maggorie in September. Love the Italian Lakes Torquay is good, but, hilly, and close to other very good places to visit, take your bus pass if you have one, we always take our when on hols in U.K.

piccme, We go once a month with Shearings Nov/Jan/Feb/ in the winter months,not booked March/April yet I think you'll know why as you say there's some good bargains to be had plus there's four drinks a day included

Worked down there for a summer season back in the day, some great memories. Been through a few times since on work related matters, always a pleasure!

dougie when we're out and about we often see Shearings coaches and I say- there goes some Wiganers on a Winter break!

My Mum's family came from near there and we stayed at the Elmdene B&B which was well located and good value. We went out to Totnes to look at the castle. A guy there said it had never been attacked. Which didn't come as a surprize to me judging from the parking situation.

Plymouth, I went there a few times in the '80s, 90s. I used to stay at the Post House (just checked it's Crowne Plaza now). I went back there a couple of years ago, the Barbican is nice and the Hoe of course but the town centre is very run down now.
