10,000 scousers claiming compo! TRUE!

Started by: wigvet (3551)

At first I raised a smile at this yesterday; but then I thought of the burden on the NHS as these ‘claimants’ visit their GP/Hospital to register/log their illness

''MORE than 10,000 people have joined a massive class law action against under-fire Merseyside factory Sonae – today described as the biggest in UK legal history.

Three solicitor firms are spearheading a huge judicial case in response to a catalogue of complaints against the Kirkby woodchip plant.

Families living close to the Moss Lane site have inundated three separate solicitor firms with complaints following a fire at the company.
They believe discharges from the plant are responsible for some common ailments like coughs, streaming eyes, and respiratory problems, but also some more serious illnesses.

Nigel Graham, managing director, Sonae Industria (UK) Ltd said:

“It has also come to our attention that ‘claims farmers’ working for local solicitors have been circulating leaflets encouraging people to come forward, based upon the fabrication that compensation has already been made to local residents. “There is absolutely no truth to this, no payments have been made and it is deliberately misleading the public. Even our own employees have been directly approached to make a claim, indicative of the unfortunate reflection of the claims culture we live in.”
The flyer, obtained by Sonae, purporting to come from a legal company separate to the three solicitors, and addressed to the ‘people of Northwood’, reads: “We believe you and thousands of other residents may be eligible to receive compensation...help us help you.”

if these people win their case, roll on bommy neet, we can all put a claim in - I can feel a cough now!

Sonae have also been blamed for the lack of 'home grown' players emerging from the Liverpool Academy which is sited close to the factory.
The residents would have had a case 30 years ago when the use of formaldehyde resins posed a health hazard.
Having read the reports over the past few years it appears that the locals believe that the steam plume from the dryer chimney is toxic. The dryer is used to reduce the moisture content of the wood chips before they come into contact with any chemicals.

Ambulance chasers.

Was it the Accident Group whe were notorious for touting for bogus claims?

Saw one documentary where the 'legal' bloodhounds had identified various trip hazzards on the street, then sought suitably injured people to bung bogus claims in.

don't want to sound pedantic but they are not actually scousers, they are kirkby-ites as they call themselves (kirkby being in the metropolitan borough of knowsley not in liverpool) similarly i have a friend who's wife hails from salford, yet call her a mancunian and she hits the roof and will tell you in no uncertain terms she is not a mancunian she is a salfordian! -and i know of a few other salfordians who will tell you the same ! so beware ! lol

I think you'll find Kirkby, like Ashton in Makerfield, is under two councils. Sefton and Knowsley!

There's only Wiganers who like being generalised according to the council they are under!
