Redwood Park on Banks Ave, I just had a look on Google street View, no sign of any sculptures. Maybe they are a recent addition to the park. Memories of my music teacher Mt Hewitt he lived at no 1 Banks Ave,the park was there then in the mid 50s

Certainly is stuart. I probably passed you on the seat outside his front room. Still cant get my head round how he got the baby grand the upright and a desk in such a small space. He must have had the window taken out to get the baby grand in.

I have been back again tonight with my other half, I had thought they were sculpted from trees chopped down there, but on looking again they must have been brought to the site. i am as impressed as much today as I was yesterday. I would love to own one, but sure they must be soooooo expensive.

Erontquay,
Sunday mornings around 10:00 was the time of my lesson.
I remember it well sitting on the chair at the foot of the stairs waiting for my lesson.

Process. I don't know who has made the sculptures that you have seen.
However I know a person who lives in Billinge who does similar sculptures and they are not too expensive either.
He is called 'UK Roy Chainsaw Carvings'. You can contact him on 07870623623.
He carves lovely owls, eagles, sunflowers, benches etc and he can carve words in them for you.
He has done some carvings for our community group in Ashton and he is local and reasonably priced to buy from.

Dont know if you already know, but a fourth sculpture was put in the park of a bear, sadly this has had to be removed because alledgedly someone was hand sawing through it possible with a view to stealing it. it has been removed for repair by council. it makes my blood boil that someone thinks they can take something indended for everyones pleasure for their own gain.

There were several down one of the cycle tracks running through Chester, old railways routes,. Many of the carvings are now without heads, wings, etc.

The Wigan World site keeps bringing back memories for me. I was also a student of Mr Hewitt - that was around 1954ish - another student of his was the father of Martin Johnson the former captain of the England Rugby Union team.
Although I now live in New Zealand, i'm a regular viewer of the Wigan World website.
