I kept getting calls from this number 08000 304 909, typed it on interweb and got led to this website, hundreds of people have complained about it - so i put it on the reject list on my phone and three times in the last ten minutes it has tried to call again.... If you are ever in doubt as to who is calling you try this site..

Before registering, consider the Canadian experience. About 2 years ago they started a do not call registry. I signed up our number and since I was at it added my cell phone. I had never had junk calls on my cell before but they started to come regularly after. Others noticed it too and it turned out for a $50 fee per area code companies could get a list of all the numbers (100s of 1000s per code)of people they weren't supposed to call. A cheaper list of active numbers than they could get anywhere else.

I read the other day that 300,000 complaints have been made about to the CRTC about calls and $75,000 of fines have been issued. Only $3000 of that has been collected or an average of 1 cent per complaint. The offenders find that just a small cost of doing business. The system backfired.

In the past I had a series of middle of the night faxes from companies. When I complained one guy told me it was a good marketing tool and worth a little inconvenience. I guess as long as it was someone else's inconvenience. I think a few executions are in order to get these guys' attention. I would pay for the opportunity and provide my own rope.

Barflag,

How did you go on with the hail storms this week? Not too much damage I hope.

Broady,

Not much hail here but my wife was maybe 5 miles away out on Glenmore Tr near Langdon and her car got dented up bad. Insurance should be coming by to take a look. We got about 1.7 inches of rain which doesn't help the 60 acres of rye left that I was trying to bale. Hardly ever see that much in July. One guy has 700 acres of hay down. The forecast was for clear so he cut it. Now with the ground this wet it will shower and sometimes hail off and on for the next few weeks. How about at your place?

Not bad at all. I think the NW got the brunt of the storm.

My daughter is working at the Strathmore Library for the summer. They said that day on the radio there was a tornado warning with funnel clouds sighted there and for people to take precautions. My daughter never heard a thing about it 'til she got home. She had 30 or so little kids to look after in the reading program so they were lucky nothing touched down.

Telephone Preference Service : it really does work.
I was wary at first but tried it because I was sick of the calls. None at all since then and I am sure it was over a year ago now.

Got the info. from this site
