ANYBODY KNOW WOT IT WAS B4 it was a WOOLIES store

Pretty sure it started life as a pub,don't know the name though

It started life as The Royal Hotel in the early 1900s.

You see that ist tram line well I got my foot trapped in it they used to turn the trams round further up going back to standish

We lost our Woolworths in Wigan in 1984 when it closed and today Woolworths & MFI have both gone into Adminstration internet search

Looks like a motor bike and sidecar elizabeth, known as a combination, my dad had one in the fifties, BSA B30 with sidecar, they were good fun for us kids!

Underneath the Royal Hotel in the picture is a shop which used to sell raincoats, hats & umbrellas. My mother-in -law used to talk about this shop 'cos she remembered it when she was a little girl(she was born in 1898). You can see the name underneath the window ----- WE SHALL HAVE RAIN!

was told that it was an HOTEL but im 2 young 2 remember that .apparently there still a plaque at the rear of it that you can still see with the coat of arms on it
