There's one going into Bolton - Derby Street I think.

I think the Polish food shop in Leigh is opposite the Thomas Burke pub (old Odeon cinema)

There's quite a few shops in Derby St. Bolton that specialise in ethnic tastes.

Can you still buy "Comrade Sheenski" in a Polish polish shop?

Replied: 12th Oct 2008 at 12:28

Posted by: xrh59 (inactive)

AVRE - Armoured Vehicle, Royal Engineers was a Churchill tank adapted to attack German defensive fortifications. The crew included two Royal Engineers who could easily leave and enter the tank through its side hatches. The AVRE had the main gun replaced by a Petard Spigot Mortar. This fired a forty pound (18 kg) HE-filled projectile (nicknamed the Flying Dustbin) 150 yards (137 m). The "Dustbin" could destroy concrete obstacles such as roadblocks and bunkers. This weapon was unusual in that it had to be reloaded externally - by opening a hatch and sliding a round into the mortar tube from the hull.

Now thats a petard!!!!!

Replied: 12th Oct 2008 at 12:28

A spigot mortar sounds like a medical application.

And here's me thinking a petard was one of them cartoon type bombs with the burning fuse.

Polish shop in Ince opposit KFC. It's either Polish or Turk, sells mainly snack food though. Morrisons have a good supply of Middle Eastern food in a special section.
