I left school in 1969 at 14yr old and got an apprenticeship( Coal Mining Craft Apprentice)at 15years of age which was a 3yr 6month indentured apprenticeship.Did 10 years has a pit mon then in 1979 just after the explosion got my lamp and become a colliery official. You knew me has a kid from DG which I left when I was 21 and apart from working together on the odd occassion you know nothing about me except through these key boards. The pit shut in 1989 and since that Time I have seen very few ex pitmen except at funerals. 10years ago I was diagnosed with Cancer and through the NHS got rid within 3weeks of seeing the doctor.7years ago my wife was misdiagnosed twice (trap nerve in her neck), This turned out to be she had a mini stroke followed by a major stroke which nearly killed her. 2years ago she collapsed at home and ended up in ICU at Wigan, I was there every day for 11hours for 3days on the 4th day the hospital had lost her when on visiting she was not on the ward but nobody knew where she was After some phoning she was found on the stroke unit,Could have been dead and in the mortuaryI am not going to go into all my life history but maybe other people could understand why I have a love/hate history with the NHS.Found a form for inland revenue/pensions which says I joined the NCB on 11/08/69 and finished on 06/05/89. Also found a ULCI certificate which says Coal mining craft cert.stage four Mining Tech credit Engineering Tech pass Mining Legislation credit cannot find my indenture cert for love nor money

Great write up there PeterP and after reading that you have every right to be upset with the failings of the NHS for your wife. You really don't need to explain yourself to anyone about your working life on here to anyone and the one you addressed this to won't accept facts put in front of him all he does is belittle people or tries to and when it isn't going his way you get the racist card pulled out.

An impressive mining CV you have there too.

iv,e known you all of my life peter unlike most on here & i have to be honest you,ve never been killed with work .why you have a grudge against the NHS is a mystery to me .iv,e got all the certificates & more that you have because the mining craft scheme was far superior to a mining apprentice as it had to be . i suggest you & that TTS should watch the programme on channel 4 @ 8 pm on what trump has planned for the NHS . i told you at colins funeral that your blaming the wrong people by scapegoating the NHS instead of this tory government who has systematicaly under funded & got rid of thousands of nurses & staff so i suggest you point your vitriol at them instead of the NHS.and just like the racist he is terryw puts that 1 in & would,nt accept the facts if the queen declared it ..and you only left school a year before me in 1970 & i went straight into work.

Whups you tried to broach the subject of the NHS at Colins funeral wilst I was talking to a mourner and told you this was not the time nor the place to start a discussion and I walked away from you Like I have said previous on here you DO NOT know anything about me except through these keyboards. It is 30 YEARS since the pit finished and I can count on one hand the amount of times I have met you during this time. You belittle my work during the last 30 years but you have never worked with me during this time.

Peter.

A few years ago NHS London set up a task force to improve the outcomes for stroke victims. There was a lot of concern that too many stroke patients were dying or left with severe disabilities.
One of the driving forces for this study was an analysis of patient representatives complaints that indicated the biggest problem was the time between the stroke occurring and appropriate treatment starting. A secondary factor was the low level of aftercare.
There was a lot of opposition to the plan because it was based on a specialist stroke unit covering a much wider catchment area than is the case with general hospitals.
However, the outcomes were improving considerably and as a result it became NHS policy to set up similar schemes outside of London.
Salford Royal now has what is known as a Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. Stroke victims from across the region are now sent there and receive immediate treatment from specialist doctors and nurses on a 24/7 basis. A follow up rehabilitation ward continues a treatment plan before discharge.
There’s no doubt that if nobody had ever complained about their loved ones care after a stroke this strategic change would have taken much longer to see the light of day.

people were there peter & heard me talking to you & the reason you walked away was because you lost the argument .i know EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU having been born on the same estate as you & worked at the same pit as you & there,s only 2 yrs between us so dont be conning people on here .i dont particlulary want to meet you as i find you a bit stuck up & you think your a cut above the rest of us on here & the estate where you where born .you know where i live & if you want to take it further i,ll wait on your discretion & i dont care if you have kids & grandkids & i would,nt have involved them at any price in a conversation on here , but then again it shows what calibre of man you really are doesnt it .and i,m sure the term "billy no mates" was designed for people like you as your not very well liked by your peers are you .maybe some of your racist mates can come to your rescue .your reply above is an absolute pack of lies & i,m sure the people on here who know both of us will attest to that & you know full well that i know you more than "through these keyboards" & your lies will not go unnoticed & i cant belittle your work because you hav,nt done any.

you have absolutely no concept on any pit work . i was in the furthest district in the return airways & grafted until the face finished & that happened everywhere i worked down there even to the point of the undermanager not letting me go anywhere else . as far as racism goes i think they know who they are.that obese i think you have the wrong guy & your not all that are you .lets take a look at some of your comments - You mean he can actually get tea down that straw neck?

A rope around it wouldn't go amiss. - The man is a traitor to this country. Nothing more needs to be said about this moronic man.- There are no excuses for Corbyn no matter how people try to defend him, he is a traitor.- He'll get more votes from the workshy if they think they have a chance to get back on invalidity benefits when he gets shut of universal credit. Never seen as many Lazarus's in Wigan when they had their benefits stopped, crutches thrown to one side, mobility scooters unplugged and sold on ebay. Yet they still make it on foot to the Moon Under The Water for an early morning pint. Don't say it ain't so cos I seen em and know a few. - Having the scooter gives them more credit for their disability when they go for medical revues so they choose that option, the person who lives near me had one for years until the shake up, now the person walks everywhere and signs on at Brocal House. Apparently they "genuinely needed" the scooter for all those years and disability benefits that went along with it, It wasn't unknown for that person to visit the local betting shop and pub without the scooter. Two to three holidays a years while others went to work to pay for all this.- I'm not lying, Whups. The man decided to use his daughter for a Labour exercise in front of the cameras, I just pointed out what he had done. I'm not a Tory or a right winger I can just see that Boris Johnson and Mr Farage are trying their best to do what people democratically voted for, me being one of those will go with either to get the job done. As for compassion, well I love everyone me. But I am very glad Whups that your militant stance has got you were you want to be at this point in your life, enjoy your lavish lifestyle in your big house.and those are just a few . and it,s not just the colour of someones skin thats racist is it pal.

I was about 7 yrs old when we moved to D/Green and when I was 21 years old I got married (1975) and moved off the estate.Like I have said if you know me then you know about my family but because you dont know nothing about me or my family then has I have said you KNEW me over 30 years ago and I have moved on since then and I dont live in the past. You belittle any work that I may of done in the last 30 years but I asked you on another thread what work you have done since the pit finished in 1989 you still have to answer this question. You say you have more certificates than me from the pit.Why did you never use themI can only remember you being part of a haulage crew which could be hard work but cannot remember you ever doing any thing else down the pit.

PeterP. I think he just likes to assume things about people he has no knowledge of, so it's just easy for him to belittle people. He assumes I have no knowledge of pit work how he knows this I don't know, he says I'm a racist without a shred of evidence and no where on WW have I made any racist comments. It would seem you have him on the back foot and he doesn't like it.

When you say the pit closed in 1989 that I would take it that was Golborne Colliery, which was linked underground to Bickershaw and Parsonage Collieries, but those two pits only closed in 1992 so why did Golborne close three years before the other two did.

Replied: 28th Oct 2019 at 16:10

TTS I know Golborne ceased production of coal in 1989 but even I forgot bickershaw/parsonage had a stay of execution and carried on producing coal till 1992 They would have sealed the joining tunnel underground from Golborne.

Parsonage was joined up to Bickershaw in 1975 so I presume all the coal from the 3 pit complex was wound up Bickershaw from this date/

I've known peter a good few years as a friend and I think he would sit down and have a drink with me anytime, but as Peter says I for one don't really know him or is home life.

I've known about whups a long time and seen him about 5/6 times, as for his darting and photo's you say you can put on here having anything to do with his life style and his size, you can count me another with a dartboard on the wall not saying anything else but why bring it up man

Replied: 28th Oct 2019 at 18:23

TTS there is plenty of coal and various coal seams but it was thought unviable to work these seams at the time of general closures within the industry. Also Bickershaw decided to go for a 16 ft seam and struggled to get it into production so the predicted production could have been too low to warrant keeping the complex open. To compensate for this Golborne went into overdrive producing coal and this shortened the live of the existing seams at Golborne and this is why it closed 3 years before the other two pits. Golborne in my opinion was sacrificed to keep the other 2 pits open

Dougie, I brought it up because he is belittling a mans working life by assuming that person doesn't know what work is and hasn't grafted. I replied that he couldn't have done that much graft himself being that obese, he says I have the wrong guy, but his darts photos are on the album. He has no right to put anyone down for working or having a gripe about the NHS like he has done to Peter nor has he any right to call me a racist for no reason at all. But the fact that he has approached a person at a funeral to verbally attack them says a lot about him.

Yes you knew me 30 YEARS ago and Yes I lived round the corner from you yes I worked at the same pit as you yes sometimes I was your boss.
In the last 30 years I have had TWO JOBS which you say I did NO WORK 1989-92 and 1992-2014
If you know me what did my jobs involve?
What have I done since 2014
I asked you did I have a family because if you knew me you could answer this. I asked you what work you have done in the last 30 YEARS has I dont know because I dont know anything about you. This works two ways if you know all about me then I must know all about you but I dont You say I am work shy and I am stuck up and look down at people from DG.Since I have not lived there for over 44years the only DGreeners I see are some of your relations (Annie Scullys daughter and g/daughter) and my last boss who lives at DG. At Colins funeral I spoke to the Ryder brothers plus spouse and I think it was JG (cannot remember names) when you rudely interupted our conversation. Who in there right mind starts a conversation about the rights and wrongs of the NHS when you are stood outside after a funeral Did not speak to anyone else because I could only remember some faces. last time I was at DG was in 2015 and stopped to have a chat with Colin, never had cause to go to DG since parents died

No. It's a fact that obesity is costing and putting a lot of stress on the NHS. People with bad backs, knees and legs, joints, heart conditions, diabetes and another hundred complaints these are real facts. All because they have no self discipline when it comes to eating and looking after themselves.

I am still waiting for a reply has to what work Whups has done in the last 30years On another thread Firefox is asking the same question You say you pay more tax than any one else, But I personaly dont know of any pit man who gets over £240 per WEEK to need to pay any tax on his pension. You are not old enough to get state pension so do not pay tax on that.

Peter said, "I personally don't know of any pit man who gets over £240 per WEEK to need to pay any tax on his pension."

I'm an ex-pitman and I have tax stopped out of my coal board pension. So, it's a good job you don't know me personally.

Tonker,
Are you being economical with the truth? We all know you have other income which means you pay tax. In those circumstances you can opt to have tax deducted from your pension to ease the pain when all your income is added together. Is that correct? If you ONLY received your pit pension as income would you pay tax on That?

Replied: 2nd Dec 2019 at 19:33

Posted by: PeterP (11291)

Tonker you only did 12years down the black hole so you must have paid a fortune into the pension scheme to pay tax on it But you have always been a wind up merchantor you are using your tax allowance on your pit pension to offset against some thing else

"I left school in 1969 at 14yr old"

Just curious. How did you manage that.

Thought the minimum age was 15, but increased to 16 in 1972.

From what I can remember the way the system operated then, then you would have had to do another year at school?
I stand corrected as it was a long time ago. I cant properly remember the criteria of school leaving age at that time.

S&B if you use your personal tax allowance for your pension then you may not pay tax on your pension.

The taxman sends you a tax code / number every year.
And they deduct tax at source depending on your income from the previous year. Im sure they do?

I send my P60 in and let them sort it!

Your age was corrected on this thread(2nd Dec 18-40) If you do not want any one to know your age or your name and what you look like why did YOU POST THEM ON WWHas to TTS or Broady posting on any issue on WW then that is up to them I cannot stop them passing their opinion only ADMIN can do that. Again after you calling me "WORK SHY" please tell me what work you have done in the last 30years or are you an hypocrite who sat back on your arse and drew state benefits for the last 30yearsThe only time I have seen you in the last 30years has been at funerals so you never know maybe we will see each other at another one but if we do I will record every thing that is said
