Labour Trounced in Wigan
Started by: Tommy Two Stroke (3941) Report abuse
"Labour Trounced in Wigan" who would have ever thought that you would see a headline like that in Wigan, because you could not get a more staunch Labour supporting place than Wigan and just look at those results, the Brexit Party polled more than twice the votes which Labour recieved

Just look

In second place Labour got 13057 votes, the Brexit Party got 26921

In a Labour Party supporting place like Wigan that is unprecedented and I wonder why ????

...But why would you want to leave Europe?

Already jobs are going in their thousands...

The youngsters will be left with a wasteland.

I don't get it...

Posted by: admin (592) Report abuse
Jarvo, they said all this when we didn't join the Euro.
We voted OUT and that is what should have happened All these 'undemocratic' people who want another vote. What would happen if we did have another vote and again we voted out. Would they want another vote until they got a REMAIN result.
Saying that we would never accept to leave with NO DEAL played straight into the Donald Tusk's hand, by saying that, we threw away our bargaining power. They had us "OVER THE PROVERBIAL BARREL"
"GET OUT OCTOBER 31st DEAL OR NO DEAL"

Jarvo,
Do you think Wolves will be out of Europe before the UK are?

Posted by: whups (4112)   Report abuse
about being "undemocratic" how about the council & poeple in fylde who voted to not have fracking in their area only to have the then business minister sajid javid overturn what they voted for ? .

There you go again Bill, writing off the men from Molineux.

Shouldn't you be focusing on your lifeless and inconsistent rugby league club?

I didn't see any magic when I was in Liverpool on Saturday afternoon...None whatsoever.

Although, Labour was trounced by the Conservatives in every local election in 'Wigan Central Ward', until Gareth gave the seats to Labour with his 2010 meddling which split the vote!

well we had our national elections on the 18 May.According to the opinion polls and all the "experts"the Australian Labor Party were going to win in a landslide. The polls had been a disaster for the Liberal Party Government.
But in recent years the ALP has been taken over by trendies, climate change warriors , and the LBTGIQ mob.The ALP , the first labor party in the world was founded to represent white working men and women. This they did for decades. So at this election they went with policies that attacked the coalminers in Queensland and NSW , to satisfy the greenies. Imposed a tax on retirees who had saved for retirement. told everyone the had to have an electric car by 2030 , stupid given the distance we drive in ths country. ANd would fund a gender progtam to allow you to be ARthur or Martha. For the first time in my life I did not vote for the ALP , and so did many more like me. THe ALP got flogged. We have a Liberal Government back in power.

From Daily Mail-- writing about the BBC

Pundit after pundit was wheeled out to rubbish the election result – it's as if you'd watched Man City win the Cup Final 6-0 only to be told the real winners were Watford

same here cordyline the elites on the ABc were in denial as the results came in.

It has been noticed by the national media that Wigan voted en masse for the Brexit Party, yesterday they were mentioning Wigan all day

And all Labour can do is to say the worse thing possible to places like Wigan, which is that they want to hold another referendum and kick people like Alistair Campbell out of the party, when it is people like him who could probably get people supporting Labour again ....

People don't see that jobs in the UK have gone to places like Poland, Hungary, etc. At the moment the so called 'gammons' are holding things up. Before the EU, food was cheaper, purchase tax stayed within our borders. We now import aged people and low/no skilled people, we have to pay benefits to, and to fund this the 'gammons' have to sell their homes they have striven with sweat and tears to buy, with no expense to the state, in order to pay for their care they were given to understand would be covered by the 40/50 years tax and national insurance they paid.

Things will get worse. The EU is 40 years old. Their pensions are coming to fruition. They are not self funding. Look at the Kinnock family pension bill. What assets will the next and subsequent generations have to sell for these politicians lifestyles?

Why have they gone to the places you have mentioned?

Just done a google to answer your question and it is down to EU grants .....

Cadbury moved factory to Poland 2011 with EU grant.
Ford Transit moved to Turkey 2013 with EU grant.
Jaguar Land Rover has recently agreed to build a new plant in Slovakia with EU grant, owned by Tata, the same company who have trashed our steel works and emptied the workers pension funds.
Peugeot closed its Ryton (was Rootes Group) plant and moved production to Slovakia with EU grant.
British Army's new Ajax fighting vehicles to be built in SPAIN using SWEDISH steel at the request of the EU to support jobs in Spain with EU grant, rather than Wales.
Dyson gone to Malaysia, with an EU loan.
Crown Closures, Bournemouth (Was METAL BOX), gone to Poland with EU grant, once employed 1,200.
M&S manufacturing gone to far east with EU loan.
Hornby models gone. In fact all toys and models now gone from UK along with the patents all with with EU grants.
Gillette gone to eastern Europe with EU grant.
Texas Instruments Greenock gone to Germany with EU grant.
Indesit at Bodelwyddan Wales gone with EU grant.
Sekisui Alveo said production at its Merthyr Tydfil Industrial Park foam plant will relocate production to Roermond in the Netherlands, with EU funding.
Hoover Merthyr factory moved out of UK to Czech Republic and the Far East by Italian company Candy with EU backing.
ICI integration into Holland’s AkzoNobel with EU bank loan and within days of the merger, several factories in the UK, were closed, eliminating 3,500 jobs.
Boots sold to Italians Stefano Pessina who have based their HQ in Switzerland to avoid tax to the tune of £80 million a year, using an EU loan for the purchase.
JDS Uniphase run by two Dutch men, brought up companies in the UK with £20 million in EU 'regeneration' grants, created a pollution nightmare and just closed it all down leaving 1,200 out of work and an environmental clean-up paid for by the UK tax-payer

They have switched production and upped sticks and moved abroad as its more cost effective. Surely even you can see that without googling! They must have asked the EU for help and they received it.
So if anything the above mentioned companies will be very grateful to the EU for subbing them and helping them on their way.

Thank you TTS. These places don't adhere to the health and safety we do here which makes goods cheaper to make. Our manufacturing has been decimated by the EU which is why we rely on London financial markets. Why aren't we making our own white goods? A friend of mine in manufacturing (parts for Rolls Royce) says the average age in his foundry is 57. When those skills are gone, they're gone.
One other thing, the carriages for HS2 are being made in Spain and Portugal. We had a perfectly good factory for that in Horwich, now given over to houses.

S&B - those subs are taxes paid in part by workers in this country. Are you happy with that? In the meantime state aid rules of the EU prevent us from helping our own.

When you typed "In part". How much do we pay "in part"?

As long as it keeps people in work, I'm very happy

I think some people would blame the EU if their local fish and chip shop shut down

Posted by: Salmon & Ball (464)  Report abuse

You are talking utter, utter rubbish 2 stroke.
You have not added meat to the bones, you have trimmed them.
I'll add some proper steak to them

The EU had actually loaned money to Ford UK but that didn't save it. And 99% of what you posted @ 12.17 is utter tosh.
Have a look for yourself.

So yoo want me to believe what a site called 'I Love the EU' says

Posted by: Salmon & Ball (464)  Report abuse
Believe what you want.
Even Bill Gates is feeling the pinch

"Ex-Microsoft boss Bill Gates, who has ploughed $1 billion into research facilities near Cambridge, has sounded a similar warning. He told the Times that “outside of Europe, [Britain] will be a significantly less attractive place to do business”. Hitachi Chairman Hiroaki Nakanishi told the Daily Mirror that, of the Japanese investors who among them provide 140,000 direct jobs in the UK, “95% thought Brexit would be negative for their businesses and for UK jobs”.

Far from protecting our industries, Brexit would cost investment and British jobs."

I think a lot of people whom voted to breakit are now starting to regret it.
I'll be honest. A lot of people whom I have spoken to voted to leave purely & simply due to the immigration situation and they expected it to be be sorted within weeks.
They did not realise at the time of voting the implications that breakit would have on our little Island and the timescale it would take to implement.
They do now!. They have now woken up and started to get the aroma of Arabica & Robusta in their nostrils
