On BBC 4 now, a series of short 1940s wartime government films. I have just watched the first one. What memories for those old enough to remember. Some I have seen before but having been born at the beginning of the war there are things I remember vividly

we lived in a large house overlooking the ribble valley....at the start of the war we had to take in 4 brit soldiers....every morn those in homes had to fall in outside in the street armed with clubs/bayonets/ anything that they could lay their hands on.britain caught defenceless once again.....nothing has changed, according to the admiralty we don't have a navy to defend our home waters?????
