Shrinkflation

Started by: priscus (inactive)

Been in the news a lot, but I have noticed some nuanced variations on this theme.

Asda. Last year compost: 3 bags for a tenner.
This year same compost: 4 bags for a tenner.

But last year, they were 70 litre bags, and this year, 50 litre bags. ie last hear 210 litres for a tenner, and this year 200 litres. Then this am, DOWN to 40 litres!

Do you not mean your down 10 litres as opposed to 40?
Nevertheless, I agree with your gripe about Shrinkflation. It's very annoying.

The retailers must think we don't notice!

In the last 2-3 years over 2000 items have been shrunk by produce but not by priceEven last week it was reported (for health reasons )chippies serving a smaller portion of fish but I bet the price is the same has before.

Bag size. from 70 litres, to 50 litres, and now to 40 litres!

If they make them much smaller, will be easier to take your plant-pots into the store for them to fill them up!

I recall a chippy in Manchester, where he cut the fish so small, it did not amount to much more than a fish-finger! Some fish fryers were skilled at bulking out the shape with batter.

"But last year, they were 70 litre bags, and this year, 50 litre bags."

I'm not being funny but I'm confused here?
What year did the 40 litres enter proceedings? This year?

I still agree with you, Priscus. It is annoying

Last year 70

This year through the season so far, 50.

Then this morning's new stock gone on sale: 40
