The old £1 coin

Started by: i-spy (15252)

Apparently we've got 3 months to spend them. I wonder if the parking machines at Leigh Infirmary will be taking the new coin by then. At the moment you have to go hunting old ones.

Hospital parking is daylight robbery

The Parking Site near the Sorting Office in Wigan will only take old £1 pound coins.

That's right, I-spy and MarieM. I've tried to use machines at both of those car parks and not had any old one pound coins on me. Both car parks need to get their act together and update their machines.
The last thing you need when you've got a hospital appointment is to have to go hunting for old one pound coins!

Just as it should be.
No good saying the NHS is free when you charge for parking. Plus this just means that the sicker you are the more you pay. That's not right.

"There is a concession for long term patients/visitors of £2.50 for each and every 24 hr period providing the visitor acquires a concessionary pass from either the security department or the relevant ward and the pass is clearly displayed in the vehicle windscreen"

Fortunately this would suggest the sicker you are (sadly) the less you pay.

It's to trick you. Just when you think all is sussed, and you complement yerself on your perspicacity, confidently withdrawing from purse or pocket your carefully hoarded old pound coin.................

They will have been changed over, and off you will proceed to try and get a swap fort new uns!

If you're not sick at all Broady you don't have to pay anything at all for parking... concessions or not.

When I was in the Linacre Centre a couple of weeks ago for an appointment, a member of staff announced that one and then later two of the consultants were running 45 minutes late for appointments and she also kept announcing that if any of the people waiting had parked in the car park and the two hours was going to run out, it was NOT necessary to go and get another ticket

Yes. I have experienced similar, when attending hospital appointments, and been OK in respect of parking time overrunning.

In a huge hospital, I guess there is likely always to be a case of at least one consultant running late. I wonder if they just impose a blanket suspension on action against overstaying motorists. Even if they trace details of every car parked beyond expired time, it still would not always point to the names of the drivers so affected.

WWT charge for visiting time at £2-50 for 1-2 hrs so visiting twice would cost you £70 and if your are visiting all day £84 because has a visitor you are only able to get FREE parking after the patient has been in hospital for over 14 daysWho said Dick Turpin was dead

WWT announce car parking charges to go up. No rise since 2015 and the excuse is that the rise is compatible to other health trusts in the area does not washA tax on the sick

When parking at Wrightington, you get a ticket and pay when you are ready to leave, the consultant being late would make no difference, you pay for the time between collecting a ticket to putting it back into the machine.

In the 1980s the 2 dollar bill went out of commission and year 2000 it came back. We have state guarters each state on it. My hubby just bought a bunch of 1 dollar gold coins.
