sounds like fun. I shall take the dog and hope he doesn't disgrace himself - or wet the gargoyle heads.

You'll have to give him a pet talk before you go so he's on his best behaviour, I-spy.

I've been hunting for more of the gargoyles online and found a set of Wigan photos, with Mesnes Park amongst them, that I really appreciated:

I don't think you'll be able to spot the gargoyles on Google maps, Lizzie, though I haven't given it a try.

We did this with the kids, it's great fun and the kids loved it..

There were no gargoyles on the Thomas Liacre centre and none on the Wigan school of arts so I guess I don't get a sticker for spotting them.....
Google Maps won't let me in the park only info avaliable......

There's a difference between a gargoyle and a grotesque.

Tonker has mentioned it in the past.

Sorry to rain on his parade

Mentioned it before, but haven't been able to locate any pics of the faces carved into the old quarry at Devil's Canyon (lowe Plantations)

Here's one I posted (a few years ago) on WW, Dostaf :

Click on the pic

The face is just to the left and a bit below the centre of the shot.

Of course.

I remember that now. I knew I/We'd mentioned them, Jo Anne. But I wonder if there's a complete set anywhere.

I can't remember how many there are (or were). I did have it on a long lost leaflet.

If I would have been counting the kids Dustaf, there would have been alot more than 12

I'm not sure how many there are in total now, Custard? Thread - 2008

I wondered if they weren't all in their places in June due to the restoration work.
