I've clicked on the link - bit too frightening to watch for me, Farrie50.

Posted by: farrie50 (1339)  Report abuse
why? you dont have to do the jumping

Posted by: jo anne (17822)  Report abuse
Still a bit too close for comfort, Farrie50. And if it was on my TV, my eyes would be closed for comfort. Scary!

I wouldn't want to fall out with him

Posted by: jo anne (17822)  Report abuse
Nor I, Dosco. Glad his attempt was successful.

Posted by: jamse (2550) Report abuse
Brilliant that.

Posted by: process (828) Report abuse
either very brave man or a very stupid one.....icant imagine what that fall must of felt like. makes a ride on big dipper look nothing!

Posted by: tomplum (2676)  Report abuse
the cost of this is enormous , the technology, setting up and man hours will go into very large figures, just to break a speed record OK, I know the scientists will learn a lot from this experiment, but at a time when America is in serious debt and people in the third world are starving and wars are going on all around the planet, could't the money be better spent?

Posted by: mrs m (169) Report abuse
This was a private venture, funded by private investors and sponsored by Red Bull. No taxpayers money here. Money that could have been spent elsewhere, true, but people will spend their money the way they want.

Has this guy got a wife and kids?
If so it's a disgrace that he should risk his life like this, pretty much like that French idiot who climbs up tower blocks.

Posted by: wigvet (2267) Report abuse
no wife nor kids

So all thrill seekers/record attempters are a disgrace then?

I think I’ll put my planned skydive from the top of Boyswell House onto Scholesenge on hold today then

Serious question

What happened to the capsule from which he jumped?

Posted by: kellysdad (5407)  Report abuse
wigvet the capsule landed just after the chapit cut itself free from the balloon and parachuted down.

Posted by: kellysdad (5407)  Report abuse
hindleyite everthing in life as a risk! are you saying none of us should have kids? people get killed everyday doing normal things and i'm sure the chaps family would have been very well compensated should something have happened.

Made me ill watching him go up, never mind coming down.

I can't, for the life of me, think why anyone would want to do that.

Posted by: Mac (27849)  Report abuse
Why is he being hailed as a hero? Did he land on a machine gun nest maybe?

Posted by: elizabeth (4505)  Report abuse
Wonder if he went to SPECSAVERS before he did that jump

Posted by: Mac (27849)  Report abuse
NOTHING to do with the chap falling off the balloon...
