If I'm along the right lines, it's in a park.

And a home to these.

Thank you for tarting up the thread, Tonker.

The wood sculpture is near the little train's track in Haigh Hall Country Park.

Custard, a HHCP warden told me:

"The sculpture was made by a forester named Derek Lomas, who, unhappily, has since passed away.
It was made about five years ago.

The very top represents a sled dog (Derek was a keen sled musher and owned several huskies).

The climber is Derek succeeding in his attempt on the Matterhorn.

The prancing deer is his artistic license.
"

How did you know about the woodpeckers, Dustaf?

"Haigh Hall Country Park", Jo Anne?

Real Wiganers call it the PLANTATIONS!

"Haigh Hall Country Park" was dreamt up by one Gil Swift, Director of "Leisure" many years ago, to his eternal discredit.

I spied one last month, feeding it's young with my little eye Jo Anne.

It wasn't feeding my eye to the young. I mean I watched it.

There is another hole in the sculpture from last year I think.
