Mick is trying to get a rise, but he cycles around the borough a fair amount, his steed is well recognised, (By his own video's). He will come a cropper one day, i'm sure.

I moved into a council house when I was about 7/8 yr old and lived in the house until I got married at 21 yrs of age.I had my name down for a council house and was near to the top of the list but after the government reshuffle I ended up low priority and decides to buy a house. I still have relations who live in council property and do not look down at them. I wish they would build more council houses to give the next generation a chance in life. Most estates whether private or council has the rough element and do not look after what they have got. I have seen many a private house which have looked like a tip and overgrown gardens.

What's very annoying is when someone as bought the property, spent thousands on making it look nice then the council put rough ones next door 😠😠😠😠

From my experience, when I was a child and lived in a house with an outside toilet and no bathroom, council house tenants thought of us as dregs of society.

Anne when we moved into a council house it was the lap of luxury to us.The cottage I was born in had no hot water supply- Gas mantles down stairs- no electric and outside loo at the bottom of the garden.

I was born in a old blacksmiths stable on the 1st September 1947, same as the other lad who was born on the 25 December>
I been told I didnt sleep on hay but on some blankets in a bottom drawer of the sideboard.

That truly must have been luxury Peter but my lot was to remain in that particular house until I was married. The upside was the rent wasn't too steep and so allowed for saving for a mortgage.

Plus they don't act like 10 bob millionaires.

Replied: 13th Feb 2020 at 19:22

That is my point. In my young days council house tenant people did act like ten bob millionaires, for no other reason than they had a garden not a back yard with a tin bath hung on a nail.

The fact that people have been allowed to by their council properties has caused a lot of shortage in social housing, these are the ten bob millionaires these days. It was a stupid Idea.
