I said when the Old Courts got hold of the old Court Theatre, Court Cinema in our days, that they wouldn't have the money to repair it, and it will just sit there rotting away ......

All these grandiose announcements, which come to nothing, I wish such folk who come out with crap like that, would just keep there bloody big traps shut

Go and tell them TTS

Plus it's situated in Wigans dirtiest and scruffiest Street.

Well I would say that one is too small, hence the name Wigan Little Theatre.

And the other is too large, that is if you mean 'The Edge' which is a conference centre.

It is a shame about The Old Court Theatre - hopefully the Wigan Pier redevelopment scheme The Old Courts are involved with becomes a success.

I’ve seen a few shows at The Edge and don’t agree it’s too large, Tommy Two Strokes. Even though it seats a thousand people it seemed to me to be an intimate & friendly accessible venue.

david jenkins their md says king st as been a mecca for cheap drinks ,when was he last in a king st bar.
he his however quite right about the anti social behaviour, but where does that come from ?,WMBC allowing so many drinking dens in the same street.reason it will be easier for the police to control a small area.
not the fact that you make a small fortune on business rates etc.WMBC have allowed near 24 hour drinking, high time to rein it in.all bars should shut no later than two o'clock at the latest.

I remember donkeys years ago when the owner of Chaplins wanted to buy the old princess cinema, they refused him saying Wigan already had to many bars and the only way he could do it was to shut Chaplin down.

Wigan Council now have a policy in place, which seeks to stop anymore clubs and bars being opened in the town centre, and if and when a new licence is to be ishooed for an existing establishment, the licence will have a no later than 1.00am closing time for pubs, and no later than 3.00am for clubs, regardless of what the previous licence allowed

I think that’s brilliant, TTS, but how often doo licences have to be renooed, as it seems to be taking ages for the policy to change anything.

If the licence needs to be transferred into another name for whatever reason, then the new policy will kick in, as will be the case if the licence conditions have to be altered for any reason, such as the council reduces the amount of people the venue can hold, or if the venue closed down and then reopened, the council said it would take a few years to implement what they call the Licensing Framework, they have now included all boozing establishments in the framework.

"Off Licensed Premises 8:00 am to 11:00 pm Sunday to Saturday

On licensed Premises 1:00 am Sunday to Thursday 3:00 am Friday and Saturday (& Bank Holidays)

Late Night Refreshment 1:30 am Sunday to Thursday Premises 3:30 am Friday and Saturday (& Bank Holidays)"
