There's also a Vision Express in Tesco now, I was thinking of going there, as every time I've been to Specsavers they say my prescription has changed, I think it's just to get more money out of you and they also say they can't fit new lenses into old frames too, I've been told that Vision Express are the same, so undecided.
Anyone been to Boots Opticians.

Once upon a time....
When I was still young and fit enough to travel the world.....
The best place was Hong Kong! No shadow of a doubt.
Some of the best specs I have ever had supplied by The Peninsula Optical Company of Kowloon.
There was a time when the savings compared to buying in UK were sufficient to cover the air cost of the trip. (Not fares AND accommodation though, alas.)

Easiest thing to do in that case, is to have a standard 2 lens varifocal (reading and distance) and have a separate simple fixed focal length specs for computer.
I had to do summut similar. Had a fixed focal to be able to have score in focus when playing piano.
At first, they supplied wrong thing, believing mistakenly they were for using at computer, which it seems is usually what they are asked for. I had to fight tooth and nail to be able to see the optometrist a second time, and when I did, he agreed that what they had supplied me with was useless for the intended purpose.
So I had a pair of piano glasses made, but had to pay a further £80. Yes, I know I should have asserted my rights, and put the matter in the hands of solicitor, but was very unwell at time, and had piano examination looming.
So, I never went back to Vision Express again.
However, current chap that I see is so bloody incompetent, I think I maybe will have to, as my vision is seriously deteriorating.

Amazing is it not, that so many of us are finding basic optician services so unsatisfactory.
What the hell is wrong with this country?

I used Specsavers for a few years and each year they prescribed reading glasses and a pair for watching tv,about 12 years ago I tried Asda, and every since I have only had reading glasses,I was told I didn't need any other glasses, and I never pay more than £40 a pair, and it's not often I need a pair.I reckon I am very lucky.

granadascruggs, with that moniker, I figured you would be a strings player.
I used to perform with a Dobro player, alas he passed on some years back now. He had a prolonged deteriorating illness, but played right up to the end.
