Telephone Engineer
Started by: nanajacqui (1446)  Report abuse
Having a problem with dialing out, does anyone on WW repair internal problems.Talk Talk say the fault is in my property

Posted by: joemaplin (104) Report abuse
Can you receive calls ?..if so try a different phone in the master socket.

Posted by: spud1 (1693) Report abuse
nana,on the main BT box, there are two screws,if you remove the screws and take the front cover off,you can connect directly into the main line,if the phone works,it's a fault in the house,if it doesn't work,it's a BT fault.

I can receive calls it's when I try to ring out that a voice says "Sorry there is a fault" or "The number you've dialled has not been recognized" so I try a 3rd time & manage to get through.I need a man to take a look for me !

Spud the phone is working (sometimes)I've just spoken to an engineer who'll call out for £89 plus Vat but he can't guarantee he'll fix it so that's why I need more advice, thank you & joemaplin also

I would have said “In that case I can’t guarantee to pay you unless you do”

Haha I wasn't quick enough,I'm very willing to pay to get it fixed[/]

Nana,it's easy to take the screws out,you can't get a shock, when you pull the front away you will see where to plug the phone in.

I had the same problem. Not once but twice

Have you been doing any digging in the garden, or internal work? ie knocking nails in the carpet, floor / skirting boards anywhere?

I did! It was my fault so I was accountable for the bill on both occasions

Posted by: Tommy Two Stroke (2577) Report abuse
I would doo what joemaplin says and try plugging in a different phone, because it might be the phone which is faulty and not the line, I would go and buy one from Tesco or Argos or Asda etc

Posted by: 1934granadascruggs (1253)  Report abuse
Or borrow a friend / neighbours phone for free to test the line and plug it in.
If that phone works, Give it to me

Yes

I thought it was my phones last month so I bought three new Panasonic phones & the problem is still the same with these.I'm going to test later(thanks mindar)

Posted by: nanajacqui (1446)  Report abuse
I've done the 1st test, taken screws out & the phone works in main socket,so it's a fault in house then

Posted by: retep1949 (385) Report abuse
Do you have other devices connected to your outlets. Computers etc.if so unplug them all from the sockets.

Posted by: Tommy Two Stroke (2577) Report abuse
If the fault is in your house, which means your house is faulty, then buy a new house, it's a good excuse to have a moove
